I've been offered 3 Randalls for $700 - they are: 1) #3 stag handle - nice wildlife scene etching on the 6" blade 2) #4 stainless 7" blade, black micarta handle, brass butt cap, wrist thong 3) #12 6'' blade snap loose on sheath - all unused condition - is this a fair price? I've researched the auctions and the knives offered aren't exact comparisons. I'm a novice on Randalls so I appreciate any feedback. Thanks Jack

I'm not an expert and don't even play one on the internet, but if you like them, they are worth it. If you are looking to make a little money...hard to say without pictures, but I would think it would be difficult.

Was the engraving on the #3 done by/for Randall or post-Randall? Do you know who the artist is?

If you go to www.nordicknives.com and check the list price for knives similar to the ones you list, this is what you find:

#3 Hunter 6" tool steel stag handle is $291. Stainless is $321. No price is mentioned for engraving. Let's assume this knife with engraving is worth at least $321.

#4 Big Game and skinner 5" (not 7") in stainless with a maroon micarta handle is $292.

#12 Little Bear Bowie 6" Stag handle. Thong hole...Tool steel-$287...Stainless-$317.

Assuming the most conservative cost, in order to purchase these knives new at list price it would cost you at least $870. Significant is the fact that #4 is two inches Shorter than the knife you are considering, and $3 lacks engraving. I have no real idea what additional cost these features might be worth.

$700 sounds like a good deal to me. That would make quite a collection of wonderful Randall's. I hope you use them and enjoy them.
