Can anyone recommend some knife websites that offer good prices, online ordering and cheap (preferrably free) shipping?
I'm planning to buy a Wegner Spyderco and the only online order place I have found so far is 1SKS.
anyone have a link to a place with better prices?

1SKS is a good choice. Very good stock variety.

Personally, my favorite dealer is Mike Payne at Knives and Things. Check his place out, less variety in terms of product variety, but his service is the best. He can probably order stuff and ship it from the distributor directly to you if he doesn't have something in stock though.

I have had good experiences with http://www.DiscountKnives.com, and http://www.MJSKnives.com as well.

A word of warning - don't be too fixated on price difference. You can always find cheaper prices but if you order lots of stuff by mail, you'll appreciate having the good, knowledgable service to go with it. I got bitten once or twice in the past looking for the absolute lowest prices.

1KS is good, except that they don't take plastic on international orders which is a major pain for unfortunates like me outside the US.

Somebody already mentioned Mike Payne's Knives & Things so I'll throw in some other places I've had good deals with:

Bayou Lafourche Knife Works at http://www.knifeworks.com/

888KnivesRUs at http://www.888knivesrus.com/

Chang,
I second your opinion on Mike Payne at Knives and Things. Mike has the best service amd amazing prices. He also ships all of my things 2nd day air so I can get them faster

If you will go to the 1SKS home page, there is a link to their price matching/beating policy.
I have ordered two knives (and pre-ordered another) from them. I have not haggled over the $5.50 and $14 differences in price, respectively, as I consider that a small price to pay for the privilege of using this forum.

Top of Texas Knives, or www.toptexknives.com has some of the lowest prices I've ever seen, great service too.

Roger at http://knifeworks.com has reasonable shipping. $4.75 is the standard rate, which will cover up to about 2 pounds, insured, to anywhere in the USA. He ships international shipments by USPS, insured, and charges actual shipping cost. Thats not too bad for prompt service.

I like Tom at Marshman Bros.

www.marshmanbros.com

Not the biggest selection, but good prices and service. Shipping is included in the price! Since I am in the US, I don't know about Toms' international service.

I like to support 1stopknifeshop as it's part of bladesforum and has good prices. I have a pre-order in now for a knife.

However, when I'm low on cash and breaking open piggy banks and sortin' through buttons, it's time to go to Brian at www.discountknives.com.

Brian has that offer-you-can't-refuse of "10% lower than the best advertised regular price + shipping you can find on the net."

I've only had him reject one price match because he felt the competitor's price was an unusually low sales price and not the regular price.

He'll also tell you if the knife is in stock or not, and I've had knives delivered via regular mail in about a week or less.

No matter who I buy from, however, I will not try to start price-wars as these guys have to stay in business if we want them to continue giving us good products and service.

I like to support the forums and therefore have tried to order for 1STKS many times. They never answer their email. I will continue to attempt to buy from them but always have felt that if a company won't talk with you before the sale, what will it be like of there is a problem AFTER the sale?
Because of the forums, I'll keep trying.

Of late, the people over at toptexknives.com
have been real good to deal with, great service and good prices. I always prefer the people who take the time to talk with you and appreciate your business.

I have also favorably dealt with Dennis Wright and he accomodates your particular needs when he can. I have bought from Discount Knives.com and gotten good deals but sometimes feel that Brian is too busy for us regular folk customers.

I have also dealt with Cumberland Knives and MJS and will not publically comment only to say that I have decided to continue to try 1STKS (because of the forums, even though they never answer my inquiries) and toptexknives.com when I can. I also like Dennis Wright.

FTC, that wouldn't be a REKAT Pikuni you pre-ordered would it? Don't know if I can survive the wait....must....have...new...knife...unhhh!

Nimrod, have you tried calling the 1-800 number? I like talking to a real person, and don't order online or email.

Owen,

It is a REKAT, but not the Pikuni.

I pre-ordered one of the limited run D-2/grooveless handled Sifu SE.

It's my very first REKAT!

I don't have a REKAT, either. I pre-ordered the Pikuni with G-10 scales. I also ordered a Hobbit Fang (1095-no ATS-34 left

). It will be here Monday.
That Sifu without the grooves looks awesome. Hope you like it.

We're gonna have cool new STUFF!

huh, I just went looking for the picture of the "grooveless" Sifu that I found the other day, and can't find it anywhere. Dang, that Sifu's tempting.

Owen/Duck: I have never tried calling the 800# for 1SKS. I'm usually on line after hours and email them instead. I will take your advice and post on the 1SKS Forum; if you say that's the way to contact them on-line, I will give it a try next time around and thank you for the advice.

I did try calling the 800# for one of the other vendors I have dealt with and only get a busy signal.
