Hey, y'all, years ago, I was introduced to Militec-1, a type of super-lube that some firearms afficianados swear by. It's good stuff, and it's supposed to bond to the metal when subjected to heat, giving increased lubricity. It's been my gun lube of choice (except for certain metal-to-metal contact areas, like between an aluminum frame and a steel slide; I use moly grease for that) for years.

I was told, about two weeks ago, that Militec was supplying military with Militec-1 through their website. I emailed a request in, unsure if I was asking for too much.

Today, I received a 1-oz bottle of Militec for each member of my squad, along with a larger 4-oz bottle to keep in our CP. This was sent priority mail...at no cost.

This is good stuff, and if you buy good gun lube, I'd like you to consider buying it from these guys.

Peace,

John

After reading the thread title, I thought you had bought some of my indulgences. :)

I might have to try some of the stuff though.

In a way, this is very interesting. Of all the things that might have been sent to John, the Universe coughed up some lubricant for him.
Let the rifles work. John may disagree with some of the politics that placed him where he is, he may not like the way the environmental issues are being addressed, he may not see hope for man's kindness towards his fellow man; but he got the lube job when he needed it.

Thats awesome service. Good American caring for our boys. I'll check them out.

Lubricity. I love it.

A little lube is always helpful when trying to fit a squared away man, ahhh peg, into a round hole....whole???

Good for them. I have been using it for a while since Nasty told me about it. Seems to work as advertised. I wonder how it stands up to gun cleaning solvents? Anyone know?

I actually use it on my folders, for all pivot points and such. I don't know if they still do it, but Miltec used to send 1oz. sample bottles for no cost to people that wanted to try it out. That small sample translates to many years when applied sparingly to knives. :)

Wouldn't hesitate to use on my guns, once I run out of Break-free.

Bri, since you're a chicagoan, you don't need to worry about the gun thing, right? ;) Thank god I live 8 miles from the Chicago city border(where, from what I understand, guns are illegal if they weren't grandfathered in before '79).

I used it on a Gerber Covert Folder that was so tight I couldn't open it with the thumb-stud. Now it almost pops open like an auto. It took about 4 applications each followed by about half an hour in a warm oven. A bit of trouble to go through, but I like the results.

Militec-1 is good stuff. I use it on my folders and 42s. If I remember correctly they sent me a tiny bottle of the normal oil, plus a tiny tub of their grease, at no cost when I asked for samples. Good company to be sure.

I once had a .40 barrel that I was having trouble with; quite a few failure-to-feed, (no doubt partially caused by the wide 145-grain JHP I was feeding it). A mild buffing of the feed ramp with jeweler's rouge, followed by a thorough cleaning, then followed by Militec-1 and 200' bake for 30 minutes, solved the problem. :)

It's good stuff. Don't worry about the samples, just buy some. Great on knives, guns, anything that moves.

Soup, I was referring to hypothetical guns, not actual guns. There are no actual guns in Chicago. :p Everyone knows that. How could there be, there is a law:eek: Where are you? email or IM me if you want to.

I'll give it a try. I have so much of this kind of stuff though that I probably don't need more. I use Tetra Gun which imparts some kind of lubricity to the steel, and Brownells action magic on all the moving parts. But their support of you is worth giving another product a chance.

Thanks for the reference.

Norm

I like the smell!!!!

I got the samples years ago.

Grease on the 16 bolt contact areas, oil on the moving parts chamber and barrel.

use it on blades and hinges!!
