Hey everybody! Hope you all are doing well! I am browsing around for a sturdy, reliable large tanto folder. My hope is to find one around these dimension or larger: 4.00 in. long and 0.13 in. thick. I would love some suggestions. If you have any knives that resemble these specs. I would love to hear some personal testimonies. As always, pictures are appreciated! Thank you all in advance for the suggestions! Take care and stay sharp!

Sounds like you need a Cold Steel Large Voyager.

What's your price range?

Well at the moment I'm just browsing... so price range isn't a huge deal at the moment. I'm somewhat getting ideas for the future so I'm cool with saving up a bit. Lets say no more that $500.

In that case I say go custom. You can get exactly what steel, handle shape and material you want.

Pretty much all production tantos fall within that price range too...tough choice!

I'm not really familiar at all with customs. Any suggestions? And do you get the process going by e-mailing the manufacturer?

I absolutely LOVE my Benchmade LFTi. The CPM M4 steel is easy to sharpen and holds a fine edge. Besides that, the titanium scales look sharp. I've also been looking at an Emerson Roadhouse. Good luck. Let us know what you choose!

If you look in the Knifemakers sale section: Folders for sale, you can get an idea of the style--and price--of many of the talented makers on this forum. From there, just pick the ones you like the work of, and e-mail them. :)
I cannot recall the names at the moment, but if you browse through there you will see some very nice knives, stretching back over the past few years. I'm certain that with some browsing time put in, you will find a maker that has a style which clicks with yours.

Cold Steel Code 4 around $65
Hogue Ex01 around $120 on the forum
Emerson Super CQC 7 and Roadhouse both come in at or around 3.8"

The TNK Umnumzaan and Lg Sebenza tanto are superb... I hav'em both and really like them but they come in at around 3.6"

I really like the look of the LFTi. Isn't that discontinued now though? I've been pulled to the Roadhouse as well! I just wish they made their blades a bit thicker. I can't quite bring myself to drop $300 without a little more heft or aesthetics :/... at least not yet  Thanks, will do!

Thanks for the suggestion stabman! Sounds like a great idea! I'm already gettin' the knife craving haha. Gotta get this addiction under control lol.

The Benchmade LFTi is discontinued, but you can find them every now and again on the for sale forum. I seen a couple for sale the last couple of months. I have two and they are great knives.

The Code 4 is a little smaller than what I'm looking for but the CRK's are definitely nice! I'm looking for a little more hard use style than CRK's though IMO. For some reason I view them a little more as "safe queens", or at least more prestige knives than hard use.
