I play pool quite often and got tired of the crappy sticks found in most places. I'm in the market for a decent quality, decently priced pool cue but I have no ideea which brand is good and which brand isn't. You play pool and know a good cue brand, please let me know about it. :)

There are a lot of good cues out there. How much do you want to spend? cuetec, lucasi, viking and predator are 4 companies that all come to mind. Its been awhile since I've played pool seriously though so you may want to wait for someone else to chime in.

You can get a cuetec for around 100 USD and up all the way up to well over 1k USD for a predator cue and shaft.

FWIW, I listed those 4 companies in order of pricing and quality as I remember them.

Thank you!
I'd like to keep it under $200. I'll browse for an online store selling the ones you mentioned (one that ships to France).

outlaw cues are also very nice they have a comfortable leather wrap and a different style from the normal there around 100 bucks and play well

I'm partial to McDermott cues because of the quality of the cues for the price and the customer service.

Quick story....

I bought my first McDee in 1992. I was in the USAF at time and all I could afford was a model that was slightly over $250. The cue went everywhere with me even to Saudi Arabia. It was in Saudi that the cue was damaged. I put it aside because I didn't have to the time to get it fixed and it got lost in numerous moves. Jump ahead 25 years this past January...I found the cue in the basement and it was beat up and warped. I sent it back to McDee and they repaired it it new condition for $21.95.

That cue won me a load of cash and even mre beer.

Don't get a fiberglass clad cue like a Scorpion cue or a Cuetec, you'll hate it after the initial finish wears off.

Viking, McDermott, Joss, Falcon, and Lucasi to name a few are good quality and have cues in your price range. Best is if you can find a shop and try out a few, the feel of a cue is so subjective. Plus the tip changes the feel/hit of a cue tons.

You can probably pick up a entry-level custom for around $200, which is nice if you know what length/weight/tip diameter/type of tip you want.

I'm with Collucci on this one, I love McDermott sticks!
The price range you're talking about you might want to consider Muecci cues as well as the brands Sph3ric Pyramid mentioned. Check out the pawn shops, I bet you'll find a nice stick there at a good price.

Just ordered a McDermott Velocity Plus Black M61D, 20 oz, LePro tip, 13mm shaft with McDermott softcase and joint protections, all for $160 shipped to France :)
Thank you all!
