I travel alot for work and I just use my phone but if I were going to get a travel alarm clock I would check out Marathon, yes the same Marathon that makes the watch also makes very high end clocks and other precision instruments and its a Canadian company so you know the quality will be there.

I would buy a digital watch in addition to my phone if I was worried. But I have two phones so I am pretty covered...

Most hotels/motels that I have stayed in recently have all had a clock radio in them.

They all will, but they should also be able to give you a wake-up call. Something about hearing the phone ringing gets people out of bed.

Hotel alarm clocks/radios and wake calls are mixed bag.

Do you want you 6 o'clock wake up call in the morning or evening? Do you really want a wake up call? Did the desk clerk forget, get interrupted, ....

Motel/Hotel provided clocks and radios of various types ... can you really read how to set one when you are tired and in a dark room? Been there, tried that, over slept, and moved on to plan B with my own alarm clock.

Yup
Having a dedicated alarm clock that is easy to use and sound that you are used to is the way to go. I had the same alarm clock for 15 years that finally died. I went to the shops but couldn't find something decent.

I bought one years ago from Office Depot. It doesn't seem like a high quality item but it still works fine.

Almost all hotels have clocks but they are all different and I'm not always confident that I have set them correctly so I always set my clock too.
