Hello everyone, you may have seen some of my other posts asking about automatic and folding knives. Currently i am trying to narrow down my search for a fixed blade knife as a gift for my brother. I am looking for it to be under 100 dollars preferably between 50 and 75 but feel free to recommend knives that go lower. This is going to be a user. A real outdoors knife, for just about anything you could think of needing a knife for in the wilderness. I was thinking of the 7 inch k-bar but i would like some opinions from more experienced members. If I had the money id go ahead and get him a dogfather, or something by busse, but I don't.Some thoughts I had were
k-bar
Becker Bk9
fallkniven

any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all the help

I'd say Fällkniven is the way to go (and that's not only because I'm Swedish ;)).

They are super solid knives and I'd take one over a Ka-Bar any day.

I've never handled a Becker though, so I can't say anything about them.

I would say the Becker BK7 great all round knife and what a work horse.
(I own these)

I think if you really want to hook your bro up with a camp/survival knife that will last him the rest of his life go with a R.A.T. Rc6. :)

Its a little more than you want to spend but worth every penny.

Their warranty is the best and that is what you pay the extra dime for.
if you break the knife they replace it period.

The Beckers(Ka Bar) are nice but their warranty is for the original purchaser only (I think) and do not cover abuse to the knife like a Rat.

what about a condor rodan? could get him 2 and still have money left over.
Id say that the fallknivens would be out of your price range.
Maybe consider a mora 2000 as well, I dont personally have one but they seem to get great wraps around here

All things Becker. Condor Rodan, Bushlore and Bushcraft, five thumbs up. RAT Izula, HEST or RC3... Mora, GI Tanto, Svord, there are dozens of amazing real user knives out there for great deals.

Can't go wrong with a Becker BK9 or BK7. Both will withstand some serious use/abuse and come back calling for more.

SOG Seal Pup Elite. I have one and it's a very sharp and durable knife in the $50 range. Comes with a fairly decent sheath as well. Handle ergos are comfy too.

Any Becker or RAT cutlery knife you can afford. For the money, I personally would consider the duo of a RAT Izula and the Becker BK7 an unbeatable combo for the outdoors. If I could only have one it would be the Izula.

If you have the skills, buy a Mora laminated blade for about $15, fit it with a grip and make a sheath for it yourself. You'll have a personal gift that is an extremely capable general purpose outdoors knife and will be appreciated more than anything you can buy.
