Tittle pretty much says it all... looking for a good crooked knife that's left handed or at least ambidextrous and don't want to end up having to get a custom made one as that would get spendy. Looking specifically for a profile with a long straighter section (so it can be used as a draw knife) with a fairly open curve at the end.

This one Ray Mears is using to make a axe handle is pretty close to what I'm looking profile-wise (perhaps a bit more abrupt of a curve): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ar9NxUIrL4&feature=related#t=4m44s

Thanks in advance for the help guys!

About the best option for the price is Mora:

Curved Carving Knife

It doesn't have that big of a curved section, but a longer straight edge.

I actually picked one of those up with my purchase of a Scandi Forest Axe. The curved section is quite tiny and rather difficult to use for the things I want it for. Not to mention that it's a pain to sharpen this portion as the ceramic rods are actually wider than the curved bit...

I sent you an email about the Ray Mears LH Crooked Knife

Is this the one, if so email me

That might be a smaller version of what's shown in the video above... The one he's using definitely looks like it has longer than a 2.28" blade
Replied to your email BTW

You might check out one of the curved hoof knives used by farriers. You may be able to mod it to your personal use.--KV
