I came across what looks like a pretty good site for Henckels slipjoints. I like that they offer most knives in your choice of stainless of carbon steel. Click here. Any thoughts on these knives? How's the steel? Fit and finish? Who's making them for Henckels?

Hi mn,

Supposedly Boker makes Henckels slipjoints. I bought one just a little while ago, their stockman pattern. Overall fit and finish is pretty nice, but for only about $10 more, you can get the new Queen D2, which I believe is superior.

I haven't done any cutting with it, so I cannot tell you how the steel has held up. The one I have is the carbon steel, so I think it will make a good whittler.

I got my red jigged bone handle, carbon steel two-blade trapper Henckels on e-bay several months ago. I wanted the carbon steel model and I am still very happy with the purchase. The 420 stainless, however, does not sound that "hot" to me. Fit and finish are very good. Black patina is forming on the blades and gives a unique character to the knife. It is my EDC and gets even nicer as getting "pocket worn". It is a pleasure to take it out from my pocket to look at it and polish it on my jeans when bored. Somehow, it has a style that most tactical folders still lack.
I would also check out the Queen D2's too as Komondor suggested.
