I'm ready to make the gaurd for a Bowie knife I'm making for a friend, and I need a piece of fairly large brass barstock. Maybe something around 1"x2"x5", but I'm sure I'd probably have to buy several feet. Can anyone reccommend a cheap source? Preferably in the St. Louis area so I don't get killed by shipping charges.

Thanks.

Howdy There The Possum.!
I would suggest the you check out your local solft metal dealer, they should have some small length material availible at good prices. Or give Pop's Knife Supplies a call or check out his website. Good luck in you search.

Later "Possum"

Sheffield Knife Makers Supply. May be some one can give you the link. they are not web friendly, but are in every other sense of the word. I have procurred alot of bar stock from them in the past and have never been dissapointed. Terry

Check out the metal salvage companies, there are
some that specialize in soft or unusual metials.
St.Louis is a big place you will problem find a mine
of material and possibilities. Gib

As MikeS said in the yellow pages you can find companies that sell metal shorts (never mind), or will cut you a piece. In Seattle there is Alaskan Copper and Brass, who would no doubt ship to you, but I'm almost certain you can find something locally.
