Where can I get a good quality (aluminum oxide I asume) powder to use on a strop?

I see various places on the web but am not really sure of quality/price of any of them.

Thanks,
N2

Lee Valley Tools (www.leevalley.com) makes a chromium oxide stropping compound which works very well. Looks like a big green crayon. Last for years. Lee Valley (a Canadian company) mail orders. The Canadian peso is still a good deal (in the US).

Thank you!

In my web travels after that first post I've run across a couple of sources that say you can use a high quality chromium oxide oil paint? Apply to leather, let dry then strop away...

Have any experience with that at all?

I'll probably buy the stick too...

You can buy excellent (and cheap!) stropping compounds from here:

www.handamerican.com

I can't recommend their products highly enough! I have a bunch of their stropping leather and compounds and one of their glass smooth steels. Their products are great, and are an excellent value. They also offer fast shipping and great customer service. Order with confidence!
