I got home from work yesterday to see a few goodies on the front step. I'll admit I went a little overboard, but I was tired of watching everyone with their BK-7's, BK-15's, and FFG 16's have fun while I had to stand on the sidelines and stare with envy.

I'm excited about all three. The two Tweeners are very nice. I went and got a steak just so I could give the 15 a workout. Given how much I love the 5, it's no surprise that I find the 15 to be a really nice compromise between power and carryablility. My brother is in love with my 15. He wants one for backpacking, since it's light and can clean fish and prep food in addition to all the usual chores. I had to double check and make sure he didn't walk off with it before he went home. He threatened to do just that. I almost gave it to him for his birthday, but he thought he get more EDC use out of a properly set up BK-14, so that's what I'm getting him instead.

I now see why everyone likes the FFG 16 more than the Saber 16. The FFG edge is a big improvement. It makes the knife a little less clunky in the hand, not that it really was before, but there is a definite difference between the two. I envision this knife as being my primary bushcraft knife. I'm wearing it right now. I have a Skystorm belt sheath on the way for the 16's, which he got made up and sent off in record time. Thanks, Sky. I may get a pocket sheath as well. I'd love to keep a Tweener in my front pocket, Fairbairn-style. Then when anyone asks me to borrow a knife (a daily occurance; I got a rep), I can swagger up and say, "excuse me while I whip this out" and bask in the gasps of admiration that follow. :D

And as for the 7. Well, the 7 was always the design that didn't really appeal to me. I figured I had all my bases covered with my other Beckers and would never need one. I've never been a fan of the classic Ka-bar Marine knife either, and I figured that the 7 was pretty much the same, although improved over the Ka-bar's design.

Well, I was wrong. I really like the 7. To my mind, the 7 is the best all-around Becker. It does everything pretty well. If I had to have just one knife, it would either be the 7 or the 2, and I'd be hard-pressed to decide which one I'd prefer. There is just something about the 7 that screams "badass." It chops, cuts, and slices way better than the classic Ka-bar it resembles. It moves better in the hand as well. Very fast with knife drills, and although the 5 is faster at slashing, the 7 is a more accurate stabby-stabby, thanks to the lowered point. While I still don't really need a 7 for most uses, I'm going to keep this in my rifle bug out bag, just in case the SHFT and all the rage-cannibals who have been attacking people in the last month come to my door. I'm planning to convex, stipple, and sharpen the swedge on this thing to make it a full fighter. Very nice.

The addition of the 15 and 16 now completes my Tweener collection. I now have them all. Oh yeah!

The only current production model Becker I don't own is the BK-3. I'm not sure if I'll get one. Then again, I might break down and buy one to keep in the car, just in case I'm driving around town and need to cut my way into a flaming bus on the side of the road to save a bunch of nuns and orphans or something.

When are the Brute and Patrol machete being re-released again? I neeeedz one of each. :D

I TOLD ya the 7 was a bawss-hoss!

It is a surprising ''dark horse''. I didnt like it either, 'till I tried one for myself. Then I went ''Eureka!''

I don't have the 3 either.... I need the 12 too

Yessir. Damn, I forgot I don't have a 12 either. Okay, there are two current production Beckers I don't own yet. Nice. That should last me until the kitchen knives are available.

Probably the FFG. It's like a really big Eskabar, a knife I find extremely useful. I'm sure I'll like it even more after I convex it.

Will the ramp go or stay?

I actually like the ramp. I like to practice knife combatives, mostly just for fun, and when the saber-grip is employed for back cuts and thrusts, I've found the ramp is actually a nice thing to have. It provides another contact point to improve control, since the 7 doesn't have a fighting guard for the thumb to hide behind. It's the same reason I left the ramps on my 9's and 10. I don't really care for how they look, but they do add something to the handling for certain tasks.
