I need this sucker for a friend. I was thinking talonite but ive heard it chips like mad. Any other idea's on a knife that wont rust or requires a very minimal amount of care?

Check out the Spyderco Salt Models. Made with H1 Steel

About the H-1 stainless steel in SALT knives:
A myth in the knife world is that there exists steel with high-performance cutting abilities that cannot rust. Many non-rusting blade steels make it to the market but they all sacrifi ce edge retention and cutting power. Myth becomes reality with the introduction of H-1 steel. H-1 is a precipitation-hardened alloy with .1% nitrogen that performs like carbon in the steel matrix but won’t react to chlorine, making rust. It holds a sharpened edge comparable to premium carbon-based knife steels. Independent testing by Crucible Steel Inc. shows H-1 work-hardens at the cutting edge when processed and sharpened, raising Rc hardness and durability. Simply put, H-1 is ideal for advanced cutting performance in and around fresh and saltwater. Internal knife components are also impervious to rust and pitting.

Check out the Spyderco Salt series of knives made with H-1 steel. They are very well made knives designed for saltwater use.

Although not as fancy I put a CS Fin Bear in my tackle box and I love it. I have the roach belly to and for a tackle box knive I like it but that is about the only place I would want it but I did not want to spend a lot of money on a knife I just leave in a tackle box.

A leatherman multi tool is my fisherman's friend. Needle nose pliers, knife, screwdrivers, perfect for the boat or shore.

I use a 5" toothpick for cleaning the fish.

Buck 110? 420HC is incredibly corrosion resistant. $30 or so at Wally World. Very robust knives for the price.

The Spyderco Salts (already recommended) are really nice knives... I carry a plain edge Salt 1 for jogging and fishing trips. :D

My vote also goes to something from the Spyderco Salt Series!! I have a Salt 1, and it IS my beach knife; I swim with it in the ocean. Great knife.

Gotta say a stainless mora or a Victorinox, for an actually tackle box knife, low cost but good quality.

thanks everyone for your information. I have been a bias fan of Spyderco for some time now.

Once again, this forum answers my questions. thanks all.
