I'm looking for a daily-carry Tanto folder for a friend of mine who carried a Ka-Bar in the Marines.

He loves his Ka-Bar, so I figure he'd like something he can actually take out of the house, meaning under 8" and folding.

I've looked around online, but have found very few Tanto blade folding knives. Any suggestions?

CS Voyager tanto with 4" blade is one of my favorites. I usually carry it when jogging. Flat, unobtrusive, excellent steel, one of my sharpest blades.

Personally I really like the CRKT M16 with aluminum handle and AUS-8 blade. I know opinions are mixed on this, but mine is bulletproof with smooth action and strong lock-up. Plus with the LAWKS safety system I have a lot of confidence in the liner lock.

How about a KA-BAR mule?

cold steel voyager is hard to beat, light, thin, and comes in 3 blade lenghts. if you shop around you can get a pretty good deal on them also. oh by the way if you get one order the free dvd catalog from cold steel for your friend he'll love it, or use it for a coaster. later, ahgar

Another vote for the CRKT M16-14. You can get the Military model with a 4" black tanto blade at knivesplus.com for $63. I've got the M16-14 FD model and I love it. Great heavy-duty work knife. Check it out! :D

CS voyager, kabar mule (good one, i never would have thought of that one) crkt m16. I have had a HUGE problem with edge retention on the CRTK models I have, but i acquired them in late 2003. from what I hear, there's been some inprovement. If you decide on the CRKT, may I make a suggestion? for like 20 dollars more, you can get the police or fire model. I have found that they perform much better than the regular ones. IDK why, just an observation.

Have the mule, but it's huge for daily carry. I'm looking for something small that he can shove in a pocket. Seems funny how not many knives are offered with smaller--3"--blade sizes, in tanto, with decent steel.
