This is the Eveready Order, it just kept on going, and going and going.
To begin with, Win Heger posted a Shane Sibert Flash on this forum in '08 and it got me interested in one of Shane's smaller fixed blades. I placed an order later in the year, and was hoping to have something in hand by the end of '09 or early in '10. Well, Shane sent me images of my Mini Scout this past week.
Things happen, and Shane got involved in his fantastic folders and other projects, while mine was misplaced. When I got back with him about it, he said he had been very, very busy, but would be getting around to my order. Then, several more months passed. I finally e-mailed and Shane convinced me he would get to it, and not to give up on the order. Knowing what a great guy and maker he is, I instilled some patience, and was sure glad that I did.
The extra time paid off, in my opinion. Eighteen months ago, he wasn't incorporating the handle sculpting and shaping that he utilizes more now. This worked well into my order since I was wanting him to lengthen the handle slightly. The sculptured canvas micarta handle has red liners, and is 1/4" longer than his standard Mini Scout model..
Lighter .160 (5/32") bar stock was used. The premiere grade finish of the high grind should make this a super slicer. Here are Shane's images. Let me know what you think.
Thanks for looking!
