Good Thoughts, Smoke & Prayers Needed

I was to meet up with my good friend & fellow forumite, Doc4570, today at the NY Custom Knife Show. Doc didn't make it. His daughter was the victim of a hit & run driver this morning while on the way to school.

The good news is that she is badly bruised, but not broken. The hospital is keeping her overnight for observation since she lost consciousness but she is expected to be released tomorrow. Everyone's good thoughts, smoke & prayers for her speedy recovery would be greatly appreciated.

I would also consider it a great personal favor if anyone could provide me with knowledge of a black Nissan Maxima that may have developed a cracked windshield today in Queens County, NYC.

Thanks all.

Brian

Brian, I'm happy that your friend's daughter is going to be OK. It really makes me angry that we're seeing such an increase in "hit & runs," and I believe it's because the law doesn't come down hard enough on those persons who flee the scene. I don't know about elsewhere, but here in Louisiana there's no real deterrent to running, in that if you are caught, any sentence you get will not be much affected by having left the scene. Personally, I think leaving the scene should triple the sentence for the guilty person if caught.

Thanks for informing us, Brian. Two hit and runs that have affected people we know within about a month, not a good trend.

I'm not much good at smoke. I would guess that Yvsa has that covered. But I'm pretty good at personal prayers. And as Yvsa has said "consider it done"!

Brian,

Send along my best to Doc and his daughter.
I'm relieved to hear that she will be okay.

Many years ago I was a senior in high school and my sister was just starting the 7th grade in a school located just down the street. As I was walking past her school I looked at it trying to picture where she might be, when, for some unknown reason, I realized she wasn't in there and something had happened to her.

I ran the mile or so home and up the apartment stairs only to find she had been hit by a car that morning on the way to school leaving her shaken but with only bruises to show for it. I felt very lucky.

A long way around toward saying that Doc's daugher will be in my thoughts today.

All the best, bro',

Blues

That is twice in a month that hit and runs have directly affected forumites. What sort of person is it who can run down another and then drive away? The world is full of no good bastards, it seems. I must first get this anger driven down or my prayers won't work but when I am right with myself and my Maker rest assured the Buddhist puja will go up.

Thanks for all the well wishes, everyone. I'm happy to tell you that Doc's daughter was released from the hospital, is in good spirits, and should have a complete recovery.

Dear friends,
I was quite surprised and moved to see this thread today.
I brought my little girl home from the hospital this afternoon.
I'm sure your prayers and good thoughts had a considerable effect on her recovery.
She is bruised and sore, but planning on returning to school on Monday.
Aside from your prayers, a greasy hamburger and a shower seemed to help a lot.
I gave her a copy of this thread to show her your kindness.
You have given to what I thought was a totally negative experience,
a positive ending.
Thanks so much. I will say a prayer for each of you tonight.
Doc

Very sorry to hear the bad news but very thankful that there are no serious injuries.
I have the prayer smoke, and OHOBA STICK at
work for them. God help all of us from the idiots and drunks.

I hardly ever pray, but I do spend a lot of time talking back to Him (as I did about your girl today) - think of Tevya in Fiddler on the Roof: "Would it be so bad if...?"

Of course I do try to be courteous and listen to Him in return.

Hi Doc. Nice to see you back on the forums, again. Tell her to take it easy for awhile, though after laying in the hospital I'd be glad to get out and do something too.

Bob

ps: I got the e-note you dropped me.

Nice to hear that Doc's daughter is ok. I am sorely tempted to confront the hit and rung driver in question and ask "Why?" nose to nose.... But, what can we do to reducing such irresponsible behavior in people?

Glad to hear she's doing OK. My experience with hit and run they caught the guy,and he ran because the penalty for the hit and run was LESS than for drunk driving. as it turned out he was still over the limit the next morning but no way to prove he was drunk at the time.
