New to throwing, would like some slightly higher quality throwers than the Chinese stuff. Looking at the Hibben competition throwers, probably the 12'", I like a little heft. Any suggestions?

Dan, so many people ask that and it seems to start arguments but almost everyone seems to agree that heavy is better and somewhere between 9 and 12" is somewhat easier to throw. Some folks on here like all custom stuff, some others factory made but all seem to agree on the above. Personally, I use some Cold Steel, some Condor and a variety of heavy handmade blades. All work fine. This is particularly true if you make every effort not to throw one against the other when practicing. Carbon steel fares much better than stainless when they hit anything hard.

I believe all of the "affordable" knives (including Hibbens) are made in Asia - EXCEPT Condors, which are made in central America. Condors are a good knife for the money.

I've actually given up on buying anything until I've advanced my skills further. I've always thrown the "Chinese" stuff, but I've gotten to where I can't find a knife that suits me in my budget. I've got some designs I like and I've started scrounging steel to make my own...when I outgrow them, I'll visit Patrick Brewster store...
