Went for some colder weather camping last night.
Here's the pics we got before the camera stopped working due to getting too cold.:D

Can you see the Junglas in this picture?

As you can see, the temperature was SO cold we traveled back in time according to the date stamp!!!

Is that an AMK Heat Sheet for a fire reflector?

What type of bags and mats did you have or not have? :D

It's some type of emergency blanket, though I'm not sure of the brand. It did help reflect heat a bit though.:)
Just had one of those blue foam rolls with an old comforter doubled over for resting on (it was scheduled to be tossed on trash day anyway). The fire and winter coat made it warm enough.
My step-brother brought a couple of those foam hip pads as well, which help a great deal.

Looks like a good time. Nothing like camping in a Canadian winter. We just had -30 for a week here and about to get another blast. Doesn't look too bad where you where. Glad you had a good one

I think you just reminded me why I don't live up north! :) I'm afraid I'd be camping in my basement! On my recent "survival campout" contest entry, it was only in the 30's, no wind, and no snow, and that was cold to me!

My hat is off to you for getting out there anyway in the cold! I hope you had plenty of firewood. I'd have been tempted to build a fire on all sides to stay warm :).

It was just fun to get out there for a bit.:)
And if I can do it, then so can anyone, just about.
Go out and enjoy what's around you, whatever that may be.

Good pics & looks like you guys had a fun time.
Also, if we do see the Junglas being used to batton some wood, do we win it or another knife ?? :)
Great shots.
Be safe

What's the recipe on the canteen? Is it for some type of bread? I can make out "1 tsp of salt."

I've been experimenting with various methods of cooking bread on an open fire.

If I was made of more money, that would be a cool idea.:)

That's a recipe for rehydration solution my step-brother has on his canteen.
I don't think he had it mixed up, but he will have had the stuff with him. I remember the first time I went camping with him, and he had us wearing packs so laden with stuff we could have survived in comfort for a week; we wouldn't have even had to look for water for 2-3days.:D
