So last night we were watching Alone on the tv and I pointed out the BK7 one of the ladies was using. Very soon after my 16year old son Billy was sharpening his BK2 up using the sharpening stone Nick had given him at the last Gathering :) Later he asked if I had any extra scales around and luckily I had a set of KaBar micartas not being used. Well he upgraded his BK2 with new grips :D Just so happy to watch my "little" boy growing up!!!!

It's a good feeling.

My boys have been asking to watch forged in fire. And want to go in the garage and make knives.

Well...I got a little butt hurt last night...
My daughter is going to a hippie festival with some good friends of ours this weekend in Shokouri. Now, I know it's a music fest and not an outing in the woods but they are camping.

Anyway, I asked her which Knife she wants to take and she said none. Of course I broke out a bunch, small fixed and folders etc. Still she denied me. Even asked just a SAK or leatherman? Nope..."I'm not bringing a knife!"
I told her just pick one and leave it in ur bag, don't even take it out. What if a zombie apocalypse breaks out while ur there? "I'll just die then!"
Teenagers...

Of course I asked how she was gonna stab someone in the face if some drunk fool breaks into her tent in the middle of the night...
She replied...her nails...

Ok, so, I know it's fairly safe, she's in the same tent with our friends(a married couple) and their daughter (same age) who we've been great friends with for almost 10 years...but c'mon...really!?

Imma stuff one in her bag tonight anyway...just gotta decide which. I'm thinking the SAK...

this is the same kid that warned me I might be exposed to music I'm not used to at hot Topics, right?
the place that was playing Led Zeppelin when I walked in?
heh.
tell her if she keeps up this kind of behavior she may have to give Uncle E back that knife she got at the gathering!

Hey Bill......

That is one great son you have...... Please tell him I said hello..... I wish I had made the gathering in the "Big Woods" and had Time to spend with you two..... E

Thank you E!!! He said hello to you too :) People ask me "Why knives?" a lot. As I age, I think it has more to do with the people than the knives :D So many components of my life revolve around sharp things and very little of it has been bad stuff.

Sound like a nice night with your son.
It's great when you have a shared passion.

That's awesome that your sons showing interest Bill. At these teenage years they start finding their own path. They begin to chart their own course but sometimes ya gotta help them steer. When you see them willingly heading in your direction and following your path, it feels good!

Quality time and memory making with the kids - with a knife content ... a Becker Knife content at that; life is good!
