Anyone have issues with an xm-18s lockup? What are some others (other than crk) that are consistantly good? I'm sick of ti framelocks that develop bladeplay in two weeks. Striders especially, I've even had issues with their new lockup. I think I'm gonna have to invest in a carbidizer.

You started a thread on CRK where your 3 Sebenzas have framelock problems, and you also own an XM-18 with problems???? Wow, you own some great, expensive knives. I'm surprised they all have the same problem.

I had a problem with an Emerson that would not stay locked. Even light finger pressure on the back of the blade would have it folding up. But that was after years of use. I sent it in and they fixed it. No problems with any of my other folders and I have a good size collection including CRK, Sawby, Crawford, Strider, Gerber, Buck, ZT, Spyderco, and more.

What issues are you having?

Maybe you should just buy a fixed blade, you've had 3 Strider's and 3 Sebenza's with lock rock.... You seem quite unlucky with frame locks.

Edit: As far as I know I've never heard of an XM-18 with lock problems, the only one I've had was rock solid in any direction

No, I do not own an xm yet. I wanted to know if anyones had problems with one before I buy one

My XM-18 was like a fixed blade. No matter how hard, fast I opened it, the lock up was always in the same place. You aren't spinewacking these framelocks are you?

Just lock rock. I think the sebenza is just flex, it's nothing like a strider where you can see the bar moving. And it's very subtle. My zt 0300 has been flipped thousands of times and it's rock solid and hasn't moved in at all. Best framelock I've ever had.

I just really don't like them.

Because there is nothing to take apart and fiddle with?

After several high end knives exhibiting similar problems...the diagnosis is rather easy.

Go ahead and buy an XM. I'll go ahead and put money on you "finding" a problem.

Perhaps my tone is too offensive? I'll say it right out...it's not the knives. I won't "speak" for everyone..but I will say they are thinking it as well.

Did op happen to comment on another thread concerning lock problems?

Dude, you got the curse of the lemons!

I can't imagine buying 2 of the same 400$ dollar knife and them both having the same issue (and not bothering to send them in to be fixed) and then buying a third. This logic doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Knives of this caliber, it is unusual to have lock issues. Even so, if any problem arises you can send it back and get it corrected. These makers put pride in their work, it is hardly an issue.
