Hey everyone. I need to find a decent set of strong torx bits and driver. All the ones ive owned are extremely soft metal and they twist so easily. Its horrible, so does anyone know of a decent set of Torx bits they can reccomend? Most likely only need T 4-T11. Thanks everyone . Dustyn.

what about the craftman single ones that twist?? I went down to there store and bought the ones that I needed and been happy ever since.

I Personally prefer bits that are soft. Beter one broken bit that cost $1.00 than a striped pivot on a knife that cost $100

Get an inexpensive soldering iron with a small tip, perhaps with adjustable temp control. Set it low, and use it to gently heat the head of the screw, before attempting to remove it. I'd bet most broken/stripped tips and damaged screws are the result of trying to 'break loose' loctited threads, which should ordinarily be heated first to loosen them (per Loctite's recommendation). You'll probably never need to worry about a broken tip or stripped screw again, whether with a 'cheap' driver or a 'good' one. ;)

I had a craftsman set that twisted. T6. I replaced it with a snap on T6and, no problems yet. I only bought the one that broke because I think it $4 for one!

I found this Wiha set for about $14.

I've been told that T6 is the smallest that you will need for almost all knives.

Here's what I just bought and it's a great quality set made in Germany. Wera KK 11 ESD Compact Bitholder/Bit Set, 10-Piece

Should I remove it while the head is hot?

Yes, the sooner the better. Don't want to risk it getting stuck again, if the Loctite cools too much. Having to re-heat the screw multiple times won't ever be good for the knife, if there's any synthetic/plastic components in close proximity to the screw.

Thanks ever so much for the info David!

I just ordered a Wiha set myself. I have their screwdriver set, fantastic! Fixed a problem I wasn't even aware I had, those phillips LOCK in so well!

....then I noticed my current BIT is fine... I stripped the damn screw itself on a brand new knife... so, back to the jungle to find a tiny screw extractor.

Fun never ends!
