Friday Rick Bowles dropped by to see me.For those who don't know him,he has been the scrimshander for Randall Knives for 25 years. His work is unbelievable, and he gets the price of a new car for one knife.Rick has been a friend for many years and it is always a pleasure to see him.He brought some of his latest projects along.
Since this is his 25 year anniversary with Randall,he is producing a series of 25 ivory handled knives, each with a different theme. The first one has a herd of buffalo being hunted by Indians on it.
He had two other knives with him,one in fossil walrus, sort of a Samuel Bell Bowie, with a cougar scrimshaw. The other was a HUGE Bowie with all the hardware done in fine silver and 18 karat gold.It is fancy engraved, set all over with sapphires and diamonds, and he is going to engrave a full length portrait of Elvis on the ivory, wearing a gem studded cape.Rick said,"If Elvis had a Bowie knife, this would be it!".
