Okay guys,

I know that one of my resolutions this year is to buy less gear, but I ended up having a pretty fruitful "survival" day at the gun show in Puyallup.

First, before I even left for the show, the mailman had this for me, which I scored in a trade from 230grains. Iis a Busse FFBM. For the record, this was a trade,so no money changed hands, and it was initiated before the end of 2009. (Whew!) A great day and I haven't even left the house yet!

Once I got to the show, I found a nice zipper case for the FFBM for all of $6.00!

Next, I found a guy selling smoke signals and such. I picked up this nifty pull-ring model and some cannon fuse for some projects I have going.

Next, I found a seller with pieces of flint, charcloth, and some neat little ferro rod/striker combos. I've always wanted to try natural flint but haven't found any just lying around.

A few minutes later I found a striker for the flint at another table. Nice, since the other guy didn't have any.

I also ran into the guys from Bladetech and scored a drop-leg platform for the holster they made for me a while back. I really like to carry my 629 where it is accessable but don't like it on my pack's hipbelt.

Finally,

I ran into Scott from SKT Industries, who makes tactical nylon items. He is local, so I will be getting together with him for some customization of my SaberCat and for a couple of specialty pouches.

I hardly ever go to gun shows anymore. I'm sure glad I did today! Not a bad haul for about $70!

Flix,

Some great scores there:thumbup:. Makes for a great day, doesn't it?...

One of my hiking/backpacking pals uses that Bladetech drop rig for a long-slide Springfield 1911. He finds it surprisingly comfortable.

Nice buys!

Nice score!!!

I don't go to gunshows much anymore, but there are a few deals out there every once in a while.

I wish we had gun shows that yielded those kinda hauls...:grumpy:

Mostly overpriced guns, and chinese crap knives, and other flea market wares...

However, I have found some good military surplus deals here and there...

You shouldve seen the 3.00 cordwraped pakistan "survival" knives this douche was sellin at the last one I went to. They were pretty popular I gather. Saw alot of folks buyin em, and actin all proud of em. I still dont get why people will plunk down a ton of coin on a rifle, and get all cheapo when it comes to a blade.... I also laughed out loud at the guy who had some ARs he decked out with 100ft of tactical rails, and gunkoted them OD and other colors. Get this....5600.00, and probably 20 pounds! Can people really be this stupid??

Best deal I saw was a REALLY old 6qt dutch oven for 45.00.

Nice haul Flix. :cool::thumbup:

Glad you got it ok! I miss it already, but my Nuclear Meltdown Fusion battle Mistress is en route. I had to chop up some firewood for new years with my ASH-1!

nice to see a revolver in a drop leg holster reason is we rarely see a wheel gun in a thigh holster!

Thanks guys.

I forgot to mention I picked up a canteen cup too!

I thought I'd break down the items by price, because the thigh rig kind of threw everything off.

Knife Case $6.00
Smoke Signal $17.00
Cannon Fuse $5.00
Flint $1.00
Charcloth $1.00
Ferro Rod & Scraper $10.00
Flint Striker $5.00
Canteeen Cup $11.00
Thigh Rig $35.00
TOTAL: $91.00

Okay, it was a little more than I thought, but could have been worse. I didn't buy any new guns!

Man, that's some pretty cool stuff. I'm usually the only one selling outdoor/survival type stuff at shows in my area (maybe one other guy sometimes), so I don't get to see many new toys like those. I need to head out west!

That is some cool stuff. The only gun shows I go to, everything is always way over priced.

I was suprised at the amount of "survival" items at the show. Lots of first aid kits and individual supplies, some premade survival kits similar to the Ritter PSP, as well as MREs and other, even less palatable "survival rations."

I find that sellers at gun shows often expect a bit of haggling, and won't be offended if you try. The pices I paid above were in almost every instance less than what the seller was initially asking.

I was hoping to find more 511/Maxpedition Nylon so I could actually handle a couple of items I am considering. Also, the Fenix guy wasn't there so I couldn't check out the pocket clip on the new LD10.

Well, I think that there is a general surge in knowledge about this subject.

Plus the economic downturn.

Plus the Zombie Pirates and Plaque Ninjas.
