I just bought a Buck Cadet for my nephew as a Christmas gift, and last year got my brother a Buck Stockman. I was thinking about getting a couple for my sister and mother also. So what are some good little knives for them to carry? I was thinking maybe Spyderco Jesters or Ladybugs, anybody else have any ideas?

I would go with a Byrd finch or meadowlark both with G-10, they are well made, and inexpensive. I would also suggest the Benchmite, Chive, and Rollock.

I would have to second the Byrd recommendation.....especially if you need to keep the price under $25. They are $20 knives that provide $50 worth of value. Just my relatively worthless opinion.

The Benchmite II is an excellent small knife, usually around $25

You should look at the Benchmade Vex as a lot of knive for not much money. More than the Byrds but I like it much more. Usually around $40.

The AG Russell Pen knives are nice small knives. He has a new version out now that locks. Also look at his Featherlites.

Get 'em the most stylin' knife there ever was: Victorinox Soldier.:D

+1 for the byrd. That's what I'm getting for some tech buddies. Me wants a 635 or a mini manix, or a 41m. :)

just got my gf a rainbow spyderfly. she loves it. :)

An SAK might be nice for my Mom and the AG Russel for my Sister, I might pick one up for myself to swap with my Ladybug once in a while. The Byrds and Vex are a little bigger than I'm thinking, but I might have to pick up them up for my personal inspection. I love Christmas time I always end up buying myself more gifts than anyone else. :D

Buck Mayo Northshore is an affordable knife -looks classy too. If you've got the clams, the framelock TNT is also highly recommended.

the KaBar Dozier Folding Hunter is an excellent knife in the $20 range. I gave one to my nephew last year and he was doing construction for a year abusing it daily, and it still works great.

For gifts (and I have 2 of my own, with more on my list) I believe the line of knives by the Japanese maker, Mcusta, are very nice. They are elegant, many come with and without a pocket clip (those with no clip have a pouch also be carried in the pocket), very nice quality, good steel (VG-10), their Damascus is beautiful with VG-10 core, and priced very reasonably (special holiday pricing). Anyone one be very pleased to receive one of their knives as a gife. Here is the link where I buy mine. They come from Japan within 5 days. There is an office in the U.S. if there are any problems. Their service is also exceptional.

They also have other dealers that they represent but for gifts, the Mcusta folders are hard to beat, IMHO.

I'm buying a whole slew of Byrd G10 Cara Caras for christmas presents. I'm trying to find a sambar stag Case congress for my Dad, but it's proving to be kind of hard to find. I think a Case knife is a pretty great gift. With all of the different colors and patterns, you can find one that's perfect for just about anyone.

Here is a Congress Stag but don't know if it's "sambar".

My wife likes the Vic SwissCard, and daughter likes the Vic Classic in pink.

+3 on the AG Russell Ultimate Pen Knives. Got one for my dad last year and my mom took it and now keeps it in her purse.

This year I need one for my dad and one for myself . This time though I have the option though of getting one of the four new fancy bolstered ones or slightly larger locking one.
