Goodbye Everyone - I am about to be banned

I would love to think if I were being sneaky I would be better at it.

Dear phelanpain,

You have received a warning at BladeForums.com.

Reason:
-------
Selling without paying membership

Do not announce your intention to sell anything on this site until after you have purchased the proper level of membership...otherwise it just looks like you are trying to sneak in an ad under the radar.

Your thread has been moved to a moderator's only area.

All sale threads must be posted in the exchange.

I have a few items I want to sell, including this one but did not realize I need an upgraded membership to do that. I have sold quite a few vises on the big auction site but wish I could offer stuff to this community first as it's a good group, easier for me and don't wan't to just come here looking for free info just to sell it somewhere else. So, my apologies if you see this for sale somewhere else. Maybe I need a gold membership, I will look into it.
Warnings serve as a reminder to you of the forum's rules, which you are expected to understand and follow.

All the best,
BladeForums.com

Its just a warning. You're not going to be banned because of it. (Assuming you don't do it again)

Just shell out for a gold or platinum membership, and support the site if you enjoy it here.

Yup, looks like a warning and request to comply with the rules here.

This is a VERY friendly community as long as the rules (and other members) are respected.

Simply comply with the rules and enjoy your stay. If you want to sell, simply purchase an upgraded membership and enjoy the many benefits of being a contributing member!

It only took me 6 years to break the rules. Pretty good I'd say, for me. Anyway the reason I posted what I did was one time I got some info from a BMX forum (I like BMX and knives) and then let them know I listed the item on eBay and they thought I was taking advantage by not offering it to them first. It was a very valuable frame, started it at .99$ and it sold for 20$ and I delivered it, someone got real lucky (I am not greedy) well, I did not want to do that to you guys, so I thought I would explain that. I had no idea I needed to upgrade my membership until this morning which is why I said maybe I should upgrade but I get lost on this site and could not figure out how to upgrade (or any details) so I got warned that I may be trying to beat the system. I would suggest help over discipline but some moderators really take there job serious. It's been a great 6 years reading your posts and God Bless.

That's just a slap on the wrist, bud. Just don't do it again without appropriate membership level and you'll be fine. :)

I Don't know why I even clicked on this thread, but the letters BMX always catch my eye even in a quick skim through. Are you Jason Phelan? If so, just want to say I enjoy your videos.

I got a warning early on as well. I just happened to mention I might want to sell something, prior to Gold Membership. Don't sweat it so much. Problem is in the lack of body language in Internet forums. The words can come across as harsh, because you can't see the facial expressions of the writer. It's not like you got beat to death, more like the smack of a ruler on your knuckles.
Stick around.

There's really no need to be so dramatic about receiving a computer generated "warning" advising you that to sell on this site requires a "gold" or higher membership.

Nobody accused you of any nefarious or subversive activity and the "warning" (the software's term for a "heads up") was issued because one of your fellow members reported the thread to the forum moderators.

You weren't close to being banned because a warning carries no infraction points whatsoever.

So, if you really feel the need to carry on with the histrionics please feel free. But just know that you are making much ado about nothing.

EDIT TO ADD:

That the "bold" portion of the quoted text in post #3 was not bold in the original message to the OP.

(Added this explanation so that any supposedly inflammatory or accusatory content hinted at by the OP be put into proper perspective.)

Dude. Calm down. Hope everything in your life isnt viewed as dramatically. You got a warning about a forum rule. Business is just that - Business.
You say you value the 6 years and all the help. Have a drink if you're old enough or go for a walk. Either way- chill.

Bah, I wouldn't worry about it man. It's just an internet forum; the show everything is made up and the infraction points don't matter.
