The BM site says that production has been discontinued. The G-10 handle version of the 720, it's has been reported to have been as excellent knife, about 1/2 an ounce lighter than it's aluminum handled counterpart. 721, you will be missed.

The 721 was my first real knife.
Great knife...still carry it with me whenever i can...

Glad I have the 720! Great knife! A shame that the 720/721 doesn't get more attention - they are excellent, well made and rock solid knives!

Yes, I find the 720 to be the best handle in Benchmade's lineup for my purposes.

Unfortunately I dodn't like the blade all that much.

Fortunately (thanks to the Axis lock) the parts are swappable with much of the BM product line.

There may be a bright side to this, if the 721 goes on fire sale at all the online merchants.

:(

The 721 was my first "real" knife. Sorry to see it go! I will keep mine forever.

I really like my 720SBT, so much so that i just ordered and have coming to me a brand new 722BT! YIPPEE!

I don't know if it's Mel Pardue or not. But, my understanding is that it is a spear point as opposed the Mel's bowie blade on the 721, which is/was the G10 handle version of the 720 (still produced, aluminum blade.) In the end, it's the market. The 530 is a stand alone new lightweight entry.

The 530 is the replacement for Mel's 350, slightly longer slim blade, with the Axis lock.

Just beginning to "break it in" A couple of drops of Tri-Flow and then raise a callus on the thumb opening about 50-75 times. Nice piece. Verrrrry sharp out of the box. Since this is my very first Benchmade knife, anybody have any hints on the care and feeding of this gem.

(In my best Eric Cartman voice)...GODDAMMIT!!!

...Now I'm carrying 2 knives as my EDC's, that Benchmade has DC'd;
*805s
*721s

:mad:.:mad:.
