Google is easier and faster than search feature.

I have been finding that the forum search feature is just not working. Either the wrong results come up, or nothing at all. Then when editing or starting a new search, I have to wait for the 60 second search reboot message.

I think google is the better way to go for now.

Depends on what you're searching for. Sometimes google works better, sometimes the internal search function is better. They have different limitations. I use the internal search function much more often, but that's because I want to search out posts by a particular person, or in a particular forum, or find the most recent thread, or all three at the same time. There are some things google isn't so good for.

I can almost always find what I need through the internal search function, it just takes a few tries!

Now if only I didn't have to wait a full minute between tries!!!

(Pulls out his hair!)

I am lucky if I can get the search function to work 1 out of every 10 tries. Then when it does not work you have to wait 60 seconds to try another search that won't work either. I have wasted a LOT of time trying to get it to work. It is like a coin toss..never know if it is up or down!!

Once we get the tag system going it could work better than either the internal search function or google. The idea is human beings can assign tags to a thread more intelligently than the way search engines work. Maybe the best of all threads about puukkos doesn't have the word puukko repeated over and over, so it won't be high on a machine-generated search results list -- but more members will tag that thread with the word than any other thread, so it will show up first on the tag list. That's the idea, anyway. It'll work if people tag threads intelligently.
