Don't know if anyones' posted this yet or not. Google has a website dedicated to searching patents - search by date, inventor, name, number, etc.

This could be real handy when researching knife designs and patterns.

For example, here's AG Russell's patent for the leather pocket sheath used for the Woodswalker:
