Googley Eyed after trip to Knife Store

I just got back from the Knife Shop and i'm kinda dizzy. Handling all the Spydies left me feeling like i now NEED some. here's a short list and the order I'm gonna get em.

1. Lum Chinese folder plain edge. My favorite from the start has been confirmed as a winner.

2. harpy or Merlin serrated. everyday at work i could use these knives.

3. Lum Tanto. Awesome design now do i get the black blade... Ti handles... serrated...so many choices.

4.Chinook. can i just say Holy crap!! Beeeeefy!!

5.Standard. awesome g10 handle lotsa grip

6.Native. love the grip

7.Howard Viele. Is there a nicer looking knife?

8. Vesuvius. will probably go with the all black with no shell.

of course I'll have to get a sharpmaker sooner or later as well. Thanks to everyone here for sparking my interest in Spydies and thanks to Sal for making them and being so accessable to those of us that love them

Brandon, Hate to tell you this but a sure sign of being a "knifenut" is getting all Googley eyed over
knives. It is , I believe, an uncurable life long "Illness".

Had the shakes. Good thing the Post Lady just came with a G-10 Harpy, a Tufram Cricket, and a G-10 Civilian.

G 10 handled HARPY
for now. the next thing will be a sharpmaker then a Lum Chinese folder. dam i can't wait for my Harpy to get here

Brandon, you made an excellent first choice, as a Harpy in any configuration would serve you well (but I too love that G-10). I was only slightly surprised that the Starmate wasn't on your list...could it be that they weren't in stock when you visited your retailer?

I played with the starmate at the store but just didn't like the way it frelt in my hand. the handle was a bit uncomfortable and not quite as natural as say the Chinook or the Wegner. Maybe it's because I have smaller hands or something. I think that was actually the only Spyderco ( and I checked allmost all of them out Young Guns here in Hawaii has a ton of spydies) and that was the only one that didnt feel right. It is definately one of the coolest looking Spydies though. Just not my bag..

Great choice! I have the SS Harpy and it's one heck of a knife! After you get the Harpy, definately invest in the Standard. This is one great little knife. The Standard is like a tank.
MAtt
