Gooser,,,,With all this version 3 variation 3,4- - 7 goins on, I drug mine out and was checking it over.

At first I thought it didn't have the bolster pins!!! Couldn't find one at all. Much less two.

So got out the brasso and polished it up some. Under a magnifier all I accomplished was putting minute swirls in the brass. Takes me a magnifyer to see this.

But then with the light just right, I caught sight of a half moon right out at the end of the bolster on the blade side ( side with tang mark).

So then, got the brasso out agan and using a really soft cloth, mamas flannel pj's were first option, but I used terry cloth, and I very lightly polished with light even strokes, staying parallel with the handle in order to NOT have swirls from polishing in a circle.

Took a while but the swirls went away and then I found both rivet pins. Still using a magnifier and good lighting at just a right angle.

Now I can pick out the bottom (blade side) one without the glass, but still not the top one.

and this version 3 (variation yet to be finalized) still does not have any scale pins. Went over it with a fine toothed magnifier!!

Congrats on your recent find! I have knives that I STILL have not found the rivets. When I was doing the 110 research, I actually used a screwdriver to slightly pop the rivets by prying the case apart slightly. This was a last resort process.
By the way, please check out the 110 thread for a clarification on the 110 data sheet. It is in regards to the inlay rivets.

OK Larry and Trax...
I did a combo of the jean rubbing AND lightly applying polish. I rubbed it like heck, waited a few seconds, and then put on a very light film of polish. Rubbed very lightly with my thumb...there they are. VERY faint...but two rivets.

Now I need to find something else to drive me nuts for a week or so ;)

THANKS Gents!!!

All this research....lol.....

Leads to the question: What is so different about the rivets of old versus the later years where they are very visible?

So theres ys something to ponder Gooser! Glad you found them. I will try and see if the high res settings on my cam will show them.

I don't think they will pick up in a pic. The time they stay visible is slight and they are almost impossible to see. Gotta hold it in the right light at the right angle while facing east during the full moon and when Mars is lined up with Orion's Belt.

Well,,,I did get one lousy pic of one pin showing a half moon, so won't bother posting it.

Now the cyclops I stuck in the other post has no visible pins...but said to heck with that...lol... I believe it was just the way the sun, moon, mars and venus were aligned..... Mama said it was obviously a rare alignment that included uranus....

I'm glad you didn't say "Her****" LOL
(Sorry...I couldn't resist!)

I know I have gone over the edge (a very sharp Buck edge) when this stuff actually interests me! :p

Yeah...it's sad.
You can be in a bar, buy a brother a beer then start yakking about most of this stuff, turn around to look at a gal that just walked in, turn back around and your drinking buddy is long gone. I have that effect on peeps on a good day...add Bucklish and it's the old George Thorogood song, "I Drink Alone".

The above is pretty true...I was yakking with my bud about the Golden Eye I was showing him. Sirusly. He faked interest (I know that look - like my wife wondering what color to paint the ceiling

iffn' ya know what I mean).
