I am referring, of course, to the kiku. does anyone around here own it or had the opportunity to come in contact with it? It is a beautiful knife and if i had the dispensable cash I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Just wondering about general thoughts on this knife.

I think I've seen it for 18 somewhere online. Looks like a cool knife. If I was loaded? Maybe.

yeah but its definitely more of a decorative knife than a work knife. I would never bring it camping, but i would put it in a glass case as the centerpiece of my house.

No way, dude. The thing is a beast. We had one in the shop at one point (it sold to the president of Levi Jeans!) and if I ever had one I'd beat the snot out of it. Once you get it in your hand you just want to run around destroying stuff! :D

The super high cost is due to the fact that Mr. Kiku does them himself, and I'm pretty sure that he doesn't cut SOG much of a deal on them. If you check around online at the cost of a lot of his similar pieces that aren't "reverse collaborations" you'll see the cost is much less.

Oh--and there are a TON of different styles to choose from! I'd love to see a company do a production version of just about anything by him. Some really radical, yet functional, designs.
