A little background, ever since I found that there were knives other than the ones sold at Walmart, I have grown to love quality knives. I have a Kershaw Leek, and a Spyderco Tenacious at the moment. I am looking for something a few levels above these knives though. Like the title says, I am looking to spend $175 or less. This knifes main purpose will be very light duty tasks such as cutting tape.

My Criteria:
Under $175
Under 3.25" blade
Under 4oz
G10 or Ti handle
Liner,frame, or compression lock

Spyderco Sage 2 may be worth a look: 3" blade, titanium framelock, 3.4oz, and can be had under-budget by a few bucks.

Spyderco Sage 2.

Another GREAT Knife To Look At Is The Spyderco Paramilitary 2. The Blade Length Is A Little Longer. But It Is An AMAZING Knife, Especially For The Money. Mine Is In My Pocket Every Day.

I Also Love The Spyderco Manix 2.

Uhm, Maybe The Benchmade Mini Griptilian? Benchmade Mini Ritter Griptilian?

I'd Still Go With The Para2 Though.

You Can Get A Sage 2 On Amazon For Under $150.

Zero Tolerance 0350? - Though It's A Little Over Weight.

A ZT 350 or 300 would be great ZT is definintly a step up in quality from the middle of the road and more than likely will pleasently surpise you.

Sounds like the perfect amount of coin for a blue para2 in m390. Any reason you don't want a para 2? It is, arguably the best knife available under $200.

Ritter Mini Grip! Might not have a G10 handle but it doesnt need it! Absolutely stellar knife! I alos like the Para2...but my Mini-Grips win pocket tours more than any other blade I own!

If you're doing only light duty a ZT might (would) be overkill, but the 0350 fits your requirements, except its blade is 3.25'' and not under 3.25'', which is what you said you want. Also check out Spydercos on a site like knifeworks. See what appeals to you.

My Para 2 And Manix 2 Are Now Currently In My Pockets.
The Resilience Is In My Back Pocket.

The Ritter Grip Is A Great Knife.
I Traded Mine Recently. For The Simple Reason It Won't Kick My Para 2 Out Of My Pocket.
I Am Also Trading My BM Grip 550HG, For Another Para2. Can You Tell I Love The Para2?

Honestly I Would Go For A Ritter Mini Grip, A Spyderco Of Some Sort(UKPK(G-10, Ti, CF Handle), Caly 3, Lum Chinese, Sage 1, Sage 2, Sage 3, Etc.), Or A ZT 0350.

Really I'd Go For A Spyderco. But I'm A Spyderknut.

Another GREAT Knife To Look At Is The Spyderco Paramilitary 2.
I Also Love The Spyderco Manix 2.

I have both. I carry the Para2. The Manix2 is a very wide (not thick) knife with a great M4 blade, but I'll never carry it. It's good to chop down a forest, but not for EDC...IMO. They are both very good knives, but completely different in size and utility.

I see a lot of reco's for ZT knives, but aren't they generally very heavy and thick? I know the model 0400 is thinner but is a tanto style.

Found a knife. Was about to pull the trigger on a 0350, but then I found a 0550 in my price range. Didn't meet all my original criteria, but I'm sure I'll love it.

You don't mention the Axis Lock, but if you are good with it then the BM Bone Collector folder would be a nice folder and still leave you enough to go out and celebrate it! The small has a 2.95" blade and large at 3.36" blade. Weightwise, the small is 3.5 ounces, large is over the 4 ounce you say is the max weight at 5.6 ounces, but man does it ever feel solid in the hand! Choices on handle material include black G-10, black/green G-10, and walnut. Give them a look.

Well as I was typing, you were buying!:D Sometimes we have to compromise and you have a fine knife headed your way!:)

For those who asked why I didn't want a para 2 is the price. I may not have this much to spend on a knife for a long time, so I wanted to buy the best one I could. A para 2 can be had for under $100.
