Whats some cool/useful gear I can get for $20 be it knives, survival gear, gadgets or gizmos. I would also like to find something that can be useful for EDC if possible but dosent have to be

Usefulness for under $20

Compass
Space blanket
Poncho
Fire starters - windproof/sealing lighter

As far as knives
Just search Mora or Frost on Amazon

Lots to chose from, good quality steel, can probably get one for under $20 shipped if you have amazon prime

I was very sad to lose my Mora last hunting season, had it since I was 8 :(

K & M Matchcase... I think it was $22 shipped. A great value!

Gerber shard (mini prybar, bottle opener, backup flathead and Philips screwdrivers in one) and a Resqme glass breaker/seatbelt cutter for your keychain can both be had for just under $20.

Those k&m match cases are nice (I love mine). I second the nomination for a k&m case... that is if you don't mind coughing up a few extra bucks.

I went to the big store that shall not be named tonight. The clearance section in the sporting goods department had Remington Camo 48" X 80" PVC Ponchos for $4 ea. Totes flashlight lanterns marked down from $9.99 to $1.00.

I bought the last two of each just to use out at the cottage.

Hit the clearance racks. You know the thrill is in the hunt. Not the kill :p .

The Light-My-Fire Army model fire steel is a favorite of mine. I've gotten less popular colors for ~$11 delivered. Normal retail is ~$18.

Next up for me is a good compass (Silva is a favorite here). A Light-My-Fire Titanium Spork is another good choice, along with the Sea To Summit Long Titanium Spoon (I love Snowpeak gear but, their Spork is worthless). A single wall Snowpeak titanium coffee mug might be a stretch but, their small ones (300ml) can be found online for close to ~$20 occasionally though, the double wall are much better.

A Mora, Opinel, SAK, Bear and Son small traditional knife, vintage (used) DE safety/straight razor (and some Barbicide to disinfect it), a good 200 feet of 550 cord and a few buckles, almost any Zippo they make, a Leatherman Sidekick if you find a good deal, any of the small Streamlights or Fenix lights, a few of the Klein electrician's traditional knives, a Cold Steel machete, a Maglite for modding, a Spec-Ops Better BDU belt, anything from Rough Rider, a bunch of Nite Ize products, a Photon Microlight,a Pelican microcase (the 10xx series), a Chinese made Kershaw, some Surefire brand CR123 batteries, a magnetic parts bowl, a magnetic knife strip, a Leatherman Micra/Style, a Ka-Bar Dozier, a CRKT Drifter, a bunch of stuff from an Army surplus store, a new boonie hat, baseball cap, Fisher Space Pen, Rite in the Rain notebook, Field Notes notebook, Hero or Jinhao fountain pen, FP ink, a new phone case, a load bearing carabiner, a Nalgene bottle, a Camelbak bottle, a Maxpedition Spartan or any other Maxped wallet, a ton of Altoids. Need I go on?

I'd suggest going to a swamp meet, antique show/market thrift store etc. to try and dig up something unique in the $20 budget...

I'm into weird stuff like that so YMMV.

Leatherman Style PS on my keychain. Also an Olight I3 EOS. If you don't have one already, get a AAA flashlight for your keychain.

Save it for a time when you really need $20 bucks? Not trying to be a jerk but if times are tight you might wish you had it for food or gas or bills. It seems most things under $20 are more along the lines of cheap trinkets these days.

I use this practically everyday for something, an AG Russell steel thumb nail.

I travel a lot, involving a lot of driving. Couldn't live without a USB flash drive to play tunes. Most rentals nowadays have a USB plug right on the radio.

Already own a compass? If not, this is my first choice, the Suunto M-3:

Lots of great knives in the $20 range: Original USA-made Old Timer from eBay. Opinel. Mora. Victorinox Recruit. AG Russell Hunters Scalpel. etc.. etc., etc.

Some other ideas:
Spare SD card or battery for your camera.
Small LowePro bag for EDC gear.
Sun block and bug spray for the coming outdoor season.
Fishing tackle or license.
A tank of gas to get out somewhere this weekend.

A tank of gas for 20.00. I need to move to your area.

The motorcycle only holds five gallons. :D
So heck yeah, I can ride all day long on twenty bucks.

The F350 takes about $20, if I fill up when it's still 3/4 full.
