Got a 21. Do I need a 950?

"Need" may not be the appropriate word here. Let's say you have a Sebenza 21 as your only folding knife. Let's say a Benchmade 950-1 Rift has caught your eye. What does the 950-1 Rift offer over a Seb. 21? Anybody out there have comparison pics, maybe?

Thanks.

As one would expect, I am in the complete opposite situation! I have a large collection of multitools and SAKs and now only 1 Benchmade 940 and 3 Spyderco Salt Knives. But, I really, really want a Sebenza. Speaking of the 940, I think the blade shape is a bit better, IMO. I think the reverse tanto style blade is excellent!

I EDC'd a 940 for over 5 years - it was my one and only folding knife. Now it's a 21. 940 is obviously a lighter knife, slimmer, and not as 'present' in your pants when you EDC it - a knife that handled everything I threw at it throughout the years; beautifully crafted for a production knife; great value.

But, come on, dude... back up what you say here. You can't just throw statements like that without a reason why you feel that way. :-)

True enough. I like the blade shape a bit better because of the reinforced tip and the blade shape works really well! Eventually, I'll have a Sebenza!

the rift has the axis lock.... opens and closes wicked fast. but over all i cant seem to carry anything but my sebenza

I like my sebenza much more than my Rift, but the rift is a nice knife. I do own both, will try to get some pics up later. Rift has a longer blade, more belly, and FFG. Still think the sebenza is better in all aspects IMO of course. Rift does have FAST deployment.

Oh and your question do you "need" one. Do you need ANYTHING after a Sebenza? ;]

If you like it and want it, then get it. I would be be perfectly happy with the 21.

Check my sig line for why I like the Rift. But I will be honest the Sebenza doesn't really do anything for me. It is well made but very plain. Yeah you can get one that is fancied up but it is still the same knife underneath. Plus I don't like how soft the S30V is run. I personally think you will love it if you liked the 940 and the AXIS lock.

I have the 940 and one of the things that i initially didn't like about it was the fact that there was no pivot bushing. This means that you have to play with the pivot screw to find a balance between blade wiggle and smoothness in opening the blade. Also without locktite or wrapping the pivot in teflon tape, the pivot screw tended to work itself out after a few dozen openings. Other than that the 940 (i know you're considering the 950 but i think they are similar enough) is a great knife.
