Got myself a 1x30 HF sander for just messing around and to make some things easier.
I sharpened my lawnmower blade first on a 60 grit norton blaze belt, it was terrible. It hadn't been touched in probably 2 years. The back side was sharper lol. Came out very nice.
I then tried sharpening on some old kitchen knives my mom donated and she liked what I had done so she came outside with her two favorite german knives, a 8 inch chefs knife and a paring knife. She uses those most and they needed a good bit of work so i started at 320 and thinned out the edge and gave them an even bevel again. She uses one of those chef choice power things and it doesn't get the whole edge. Mom was amazed that her knives could get sharper than they were...which i would consider dull.
I then took my opinel to a drop point..burnt the tip a little :/ oh well. I learned from the mistake.
I then convexed my Spyderco kiwi and I'm super happy with that. I screwed up the point and fixed it.
I think tomorrow I'm gonna fix my brous blades silent soldier and make it the way I've wanted for a while now. I will have to be really patient though, I've only ground down carbon, and softer stainless. VG10 and 8cr and whatever my moms kitchen knives use. They're decent but not a super steel by far. The d2 on my silent soldier is much harder and abrasion resistant. It's also a beater so if I screw up I'll be able to live with it. I have got tons of use out of it so far.
Definitely not easy, I screwed up 4 dollar store folders I've beyond abused over the years. I was just trying different things and learning. I'm gonna have to get a few super cheapo folders or fixed blades for testing.
Here are a few pics:

This one is gonna be my desktop background for a while I think
