I have an old model 301 Stockman that I bought back in 1974.
Today my wife went out shopping with a friend of hers and saw something shiny stuck down between the cushions of a chair in the store she was in. Knowing that I love knives, she picked it up and brought it home. It is a model 371 Chinese made Buck Stockman. Supposedly these knives have Paca wood handles and 440C blades.
The best part is that it was free for me and it is in pretty decent shape. I hate that someone lost this knife but I have donated some much more expensive knives to the lost and found pile.

From what I understand the early ones were 440c and they switched to 420HC shortly after. Regardless, the Chinese made Bucks are decent quality for a budget price. They are back up by the standard Buck warranty and everything. I have a 373 in 440C that I bought when they first came out- I love that knife (especially the clip blade profile). I didn't realize it was Chinese made until I eventually noticed the little CHINA stamp on the sheepsfoot blade.
