Weird, I thought the 426 was just a 425 'Gravitator' with a modified spear-pointed blade instead of the 425's Wharncliffe. It's referred to in one list at the Benchmade site as a 'Hybrid (R)'. A description lists it as 'Gravitator'. Now - the Snody designed has a different label on it's box end - '426 SNODY TACTICAL'! Neat knife, whatever it's name. I just loved the 425 - and it's straight blade - thought the modified spear/drop pointed blade might also feel good.
The grip feels 'right' - the liner lock is thick Ti - mates quite well - indistinguishable from the back between the two, except the 425 has two more barrel spacers. Both ~ .150" 154CM blades. The clip screws came off easily with a touch of heat from a 'dry' 30W soldering pencil for ~10 sec. Cold, they wouldn't budge (BM uses blue Loctite to secure their clip screws - heat breaks the adhesion.). It is designed for RH-ed tip down carry - or clipless and in the pocket - my way. Neat knives - I'll post pix of both in the AM.
Anyone ever seen such a confusingly named knife?? I don't know what year(s) it, or the 425, were out - anyone have '05-'08 BM catalogs to check?
Stainz
PS A great reason to check Ma-Pa B&M stores - old stock. And... they may just 'deal' to get their moola out of them!
