Got a wild hair up my butt and decided to send a couple knives off to Muskrat Man for a little work. I sent him one I have a real fetish for, the LB3, and an old Schrade Walden 136 I picked up on ebay for about $6. Anyway, these pics are the LB3 I sent to him, and what he sent back. I must say, he does some VERY nice work! That's buckeye burl with red spacers on the LB3.

Here are the pics of the 136, including one of it as it was received from ebay. Black ash burl on this, with nickel-silver lanyard hole liner, vine filework on the backspring, and a half-stop incorporated. I think this one is REALLY impressive, given what he started with!

This young man has always performed spectactular work and these beautiful examples are further testimony to that. Great pity he is not allowed to continue to be a forum member on here he was an asset with his knowledge and abilities. Well done Caleb. "Such is Life" Hoo Roo

Larry,
I had no idea he was no longer a member here. What a shame. Of course, I say that without knowing the reason why. I only know he does beautiful work, and these will not be the last knives I send to him.

I also have other knives out for work. Dale Vincent, aka ORVET, has a Schrade Walden 225H and an LB3, and Bob Picklesimer has an LB7, a 194OT, and a SCHRADE LTD bone handled trapper with one broken blade. All are getting some sort of filework. The LB7 and LB3 are getting some nice stag handles, and the trapper is being turned into a single blade knife. Looking forward to getting them all, and will post pics when they come in.

The wood handles on both those two was a really good choice for the patterns. Stands out as the main feature on the 136. With the LB3 it looks like a woodland camo, subtle and cool. Look forward to seeing the others when you get them back.

Hal,
The 136 handles really are stunning! I picked up the material from ebay and sent it to him with the knife.

When I asked for buckeye burl on the LB3, I was hoping for some nice medium to dark gray material, thinking it would go well with the nickel silver bolsters and red spacers. He said the material was gray when he put it on the knife, but turned this color when he put the finish on. Oh well, it still looks nice, and I'm happy. May have to try it again. Would love to see the gray!

very nice Dave. i have a 61OT customized by Herman Williams and a 6OT coming from Dale.
Schrade did not really get into fancy handles like Case and others did, but were so well made it's worth dressing up, esp. some of the older ones.
the 136 looks totally classy now. now i'm going to review some of my old Schrades with an eye to having them "re-dressed". roland

Excellent looking knives Dave, I'll have to get something over to Kaleb and let him do his best.
