Just got this hawk from a local maker...it's made from a Craftsman ball peen hammer (5160) and has a cool finish and a SWEET shaft....looks great with my SH-1A SE :D

Wow, Paul. That Siegle looks to be one fearsome chopper  That hawk is pretty sweet, too

Paul,
What is the green material wrapped around the handle of the BM? Is it there to make the handle larger (ie. fit your hand better) or does it simply have a better feel than the micarta, or both???

looks like tennis racket or putter grip tape. its normally a bit tacky, so probably for extra grip.

Thanks for checking it out guys....some sweet steel :D I've been wanting some of Bills work for a while....if anyone's interested in the 'hawk maker just send me a message, he's a small operation that actually started getting some good business word of mouth when his son went to Iraq and he sent a hawk with him for breaching....pretty soon there were a bunch of fellas that wanted one

Guy,

As to your question, Mark nipped it in the bud.....it's Tennis Racket gauze tape....basically tacky gauze. It won't stick to anything by itself but it sticks to itself very well :p it gives an ultra grippy and softer grip to my BM. Also absorbs a little shock as well....one roll is good for a couple wraps and I'm still on the original wrap after a couple times out using it. Not too bad, it's only like a buck fifty for a roll. I like it more than nekkid micarta for some things.
