I just gave away 4 pairs of nice forged carbon steel scissors to a neighbour so I thought I`d get a few more to replenish stocks ( that`s my excuse )
I got some English industrial scissors from Wilkinson in Sheffield - they are 12 inch and they weigh 724 grams which is 25.5 ounces / 1.59 lbs so they are serious carbon steel shears.

From the manufacturer -

"

"Due to their unrivaled quality and craftsmanship. Hand-made by craftsmen using traditional techniques, they offer precision cutting for all types of fabric"

"Our 12″ Tailor’s Shears are world-famous and used by professionals due to their unrelieved quality and craftsmanship.

Branded with our Wilkinson trademark, paying homage to Thomas Wilkinson & Sons whom we incorporated in 1875.

Handmade by craftsmen using traditional techniques passed down for centuries, they offer precision cutting for all types of fabric and feature a unique corrosion protection on the inside. With a long length of cut, our 12″ Tailor’s Shears are ideal for cutting long pieces of fabric with a smooth and sharp action. A heavy duty shear, often used by professionals on Savile Row and beyond."

The CP-12 in the model name means chrome plated 12" ; they need oiling after use or storage because they are not stainless.
The quality is unbelievable and they can cut a 1/75th of an inch slice off a cigarette paper or many layers of thick denim in one go easily - I have 3 pairs because I know that they`re not going to be made in Sheffield, England forever.

The third picture down, bottom image shows a set of OXO goodgrips kitchen scissors for scale.

The other four pairs of 10 inch Kent and Stowe universal garden scissors are simply amazing for under ten dollars each so I got another 3 pairs; I have six identical ones now.
The reason why I like them is because I have been using them to cut 1/2 inch fresh privet hedge branches for 2 years outside and they make mincemeat of any rigid plastic or multiple thick layers of cardboard packaging but can also be used for cutting herbs like parsley, rosemary or chives and can spatchcock a big 6-7 lbs chicken in no time at all.
They are micro serrated so they grip things well preventing slipping, do not rust if left wet on the draining board overnight and are still very sharp after being used every day for over two years - total bargains.

Thanks for the thumbs up Shoguns - I have cheapish but solidly-made scissors for really tough jobs and my good English tailors forged ones are used for cloth and material only - no paper, cardboard or plastic because it ruins them.
