I ended up getting a great deal on this Browning Hi Power a couple of days ago. The gun is a 1990 model MKIII and is MINT with a 13rnd clip. I have fired over 250 rounds through it so far, and no malfunctions. I ALMOST like shooting it as much as my 1911. Any other Hi Power owners here?

I have mkIII. It's one of the most comfortable pistols for my hands. The mkIII safety is a big improvement over the old style safety. I want to get rid of those plastic thumbrest grips and change the sights. those white squares are a little weird. Maybe I'll get around to it someday. I have to get my 1911 set up first. Anyone know where to get 13rd. Browning mags?

like most of you I have plenty of rifles
and pistols...personally I Glockit...
however, I picked up a CZ52 surplus
pistol...yes it is what it is...but these
babies are flooding the gun market right
now and at $150 don't pass one up!!! They
fire that Tokarev round and man that bastid
moves. I think something like 1950 fps.
Hell of a gun for the money...1st choice
of the Chinese Mafia!!!

If you have a CZ52 that's popping them out at 1950 fps I'd LOVE to see it. I might be wrong, but I'm not aware of any pistol round moving anywhere that fast. Most especially not a round that was originally a military round. I don't think a 7.62x39 rifle round moves much faster than that.

Corrrect me if I'm wrong.

PS That is a sweet High Power.

I was tempted to go that route, but for the $$$, I chose this CZ75B.

JMX...please check out this months issue
of American Handgunner Sept/Oct 2002.
(Walther P99 on cover) Then go to page
72 and read about the CZ52. This writer
actually acheived 2234 fps with MagSafes.
(pg99) I know that sounds like a fantasy
but read it for yourself...I know my rounds
absolutely sizzle!!! These surplus guns
were made in the 50's and are so unique.
Best of all a good price...$150...I'm
still a Glock man but I couldn't pass this
one up...they're at every gun show and most
shops have them!!:D

I was thinking of the CZ75, more closely related to the High Power that started this thread in their 9x19mm chambering. I must admit I know nothing about the CZ52. From a quick search of the web, the bottleneck cartridge does seem like a bit of a hot rod. Sort of like the Sig.357 round.

Sorry for the confusion.

The CZ-52 can indeed achieve those smokin' velocities as stated above. Reason is: the 7.62x25mm Tokarev round was born a sub-machine gun round, that was subsequently chambered into a pistol with a roller-block system (much like the H&K MP-series). Leave it to the Czechs to ease the logistics strain by chambered a sub-gun round in a pistol.

BTW, standard surplus 7.62x25mm Tokarev rounds can easily defeat Level IIA ballstic-resistant vests--a fact not much touted for obvious reasons by law enforcement. Also, in Hong Kong & Japan where criminal elements utilize a great number of CZ-52's, the Police utilize special "Tokarev-rated" vests.

Here is a Mk III tuned by Novak's!
