I went to the local Wal mart and picked up a Kershaw Barrage. I have never had the sandvik steel before and have to get used to opening it quickly since I have carried spyderco previously. Anybody have any info or experience on this model?

I like mine. Hard to beat for the money. The new name for the knife is Salvo, and it can now be had in a plain edge also. I have broken two of the serrations on the one I have.

I did bend the lock bar on the one I have because it started to not make good contact. I also shaved down the rubber inserts so the they are flush with the sides of the frame. The rubber is very gripy. It now pulls out of the pocket much easier.

I picked up a factory blem from Kershawguy in the exchange a while back for a great price and really like it. In fact it almost came to work today but I grabbed my D2 Leek composite instead.

It's not the easiest knife to open, (for me at least, the stud is kind of small) but it feels good in my hand, takes a great edge on my Sharpmaker and handles all the light/medium duty cutting chores I ask of it.

I agree about it not being the easiest to open. I found a way to open it quicker by not using the thumb stud initially. I have small hands though so it works for me to grip both sides of the exposed blade upon opening and once blade has started out of deployment I use the stud to open the rest of the way. I wish the stud was bigger and placed differently but it is a good knife either way.

I gave mine to my FIL and he's been using it exclusively for around a year or so and it does get easier and smoother to open with use.
