Got a knife, can't open it! :(

It's my birthday this Monday and the wife let me get another knife! :) So I decided to give the Camillus Dominator a go. Well, it's here, sitting in the box it was delievered in... The wife said I have to wait until Sunday when we're having a little birthday party for me to open it... I want it now! :p So how many of you have been in this situation where a cool knife is right infront of you, but you can't play with it for a few days? Anyone ever sneak a peek? :)
 
When I read this thread title I thought you meant you had a folder you couldn't figure out how to open. I've had people not be able to figure out how to close some of my knives, but never had anybody have trouble opening them, lol.

I have a Winston key knife waiting for me...but I have to wait all the way 'til Christmas! Waiting sucks.:)
 
Kind of like giving a kid an ice cream cone on a nice summer's day and telling them they can't lick it.

Just think Sunday is such a very long time to have to wait. Oh man, it must be killing you! The Dominator is such a sweet knife too. I have been eyeballing that one for sure. I mean, it's a great looking rig, big, beefy....a real mans knife. From what I have read it fits your hand like no other. Whew, to have it so close ..... yet so far away, all at the same time. Man, you must be sweating bullets and get the shakes every time you walk by that package.

I've had a microtech amphibian for 6 months...and i haven't even seen it...

ordered it and sent it to a friend in the US...he was supposed to come back to Malaysia...but he didn't...well...he came back a lot later...then instead of bringing the knife with him...he shipped it back with his stuff...AND THE STUFF ARRIVED ONE DAY AFTER I'VE LEFT FOR UK!!!...so...now...my in-laws are coming to the UK and i've asked my dad to send the knife through them...AND HE DOESN'T WANT TO!!!! i think i can persuade him though...or maybe my mom...
The knife will have travelled 3 continents by the time i get it...i've lost all excitement for it since it's been so long....

The other day...my swamp rats arrived...and my wife didn't even tell me about it...she hid it under the pillow...


Man...all these people are so against my knife collecting!!! ENEMIES!!!
 
When I read your post, I also thought you were going to talk about having a folder that you couldn't open. I was interested 'cause I have had a Busse Steel Heart for several years and I still can't get it to close.
 
That is a rough one. When I receive a special knife, I try to have everything around the house taken care of and everything in order before I open the box. That way, I can crack open a cold beer, sit on the couch and brace myself for at least a full hour of fondle time. Its a hard thing to do and I would be lying if I said I was always able to achieve this feat:o
 
How old are you guys?!:p There's no way I would wait, had enough of that as a kid! I would of course sneak the peak, get a knife and neatly slice the package open at 2:00 in the morning and deny the transgression if questioned, but no way could I wait. :D

And I will tell you it would NOT be sitting closed in my house. I would be telling the hubby that he can let me have the knife now, and then we can ooh and ahh it again on my birthday. But I guess I am lucky, my husband is really bad about surprises. He hates to wait, I hate to wait, so we don't. If I get another addition to his arsenel for him, then he gets it to play with. The card or whatever can come later. Same with me. The waiting may be some kind of fun agony, but why wait? as an earlier poster said, we are all adults here!

Paul, that's funny! Someone brought a Pro-Tech Magic to an NJKCA meeting, and I knew what the trick was, and I still had a hard time opening it!

Once you do it, though, it's a lot easier the next time :D

We have another meeting this Sunday, so my two newest knives are going to go there unused, gleaming new and shiny ... aaaggh! I want to take them out and CUT SOMETHING !!!

point44, why don't you just send the Amphibian down to me in Singapore since you've lost your ardour for it. I could do with that nice flat recurve blade. I'm pretty sure I'll be going up your ways sometime in the future and will bring it for you., hehehehe...:D :D :p

........and after the 2:00AM opening simply replace it with ANOTHER knife and just act surprised when you do get to open it. I done this before with no problem!!:eek: :cool: :D
 
Lol, you're right, she wouldn't notice if I swapped it with one of my other dozens of knives. :)

Well, I guess the logical solution would be to open the knife, murder your spouse, dismember her, hide her body in a trash bag, throw it into a river, and if it's found say that she bought the knife to kill you and it was purely self defense. Or...wait for your birthday...whatever.
