Got a little chopping time in today

Weather cleared a little today so I grabbed a couple 22s and headed to the woods. Grabbed my FBM just in case too :) Turned out I needed it too. Driving to one of my favorite spots I encountered a downed tree blocking the road a little. Apparantly enough folks have seen it to shape a new section of road but no one was motivated to fix the situation. Well I decided the job was mine :) Took me almost 5 minutes and that includes returning to the CRV for the camera! The FBM chopped like a chainsaw in the wet wood! Made me smile getting to use my FBM and knowing I was helping to clear the way ;)

Should grabbed one of your "300" mini swords for a little comparison!
THAT would have been really cool!
Impressive, though...... How well the FBM held up!

The edge was still shaving sharp albeit the tree sap was pulling a couple of those hairs :) Got the FBM soaking in Tri Flow to cut through the pitch right now. Did make the FBM smell like a pine forest though :D

The handle was great. None of the ole "pinky pinch" of the older straight handle patterns. Pretty comfy during the whole process with no shifting or slipping.

Nice pix! :D  That looked FUN. :) Glad ya brought the camera with you.

Is it near Silver Creek Falls?

Bill...we met last summer up at Stevenson, WA. (Caz)

I have performed a regrind on the edge. Just raised the secondary edge a bit to suit me :) Hey Caz! This is up around the Molalla River. Maybe 20-30 miles North of Silver Creek. After a while all the back roads start to look the same......GREAT :D Got to see two Black Tail deer cross in front of me too while driving up but couldn't reach the camera in time. A very good day all around.

I grew up just across the ridge to the south, from the S. Fork of the Molalla, on the Little N. Fork of the N. Santiam. Folks had river frontage.

Know where Copper Creek runs into the S. Fork of the Molalla?? Think Ogle Mt. Mine.

That is gold mine country up there. Lots of neat old tunnels, back roads, etc.

Oh...and lots of chopping material too!

Nice job on the tree. My FBM's want to roll in my hands during heavy chopping. I just got a new pair of snap-on gloves, and I am going to try them out the next time I'm out in the woods. Hopefully that will take care of the problem. They sure are built like a tank though, gotta love those big blades!

That was/is a tree on the "endanged list" reason why no else cut it first.

Just kidding.

Awesome performance of a FMB.
