Last week my dad and I were just eyeballing around in a knife shop when the Native caught my eyes. We liked the knife so much that we bought 4. One for me, one for my dad, one for my brother and one for my brother-in-law-to-be. Great knife...I have always wanted a small folding knife with a clip to carry wherever I go so...now I have one!

Thanks!

Now imagine the same knife with premium CPM 440V steel, royal blue G10 scales and clip, and 1 of 300 on the blade....

I saw the blue version...great for a collector's item...but, I needed something I can clip to my belt line and carry regardless fo what I am wearing (suit or simply jeans)...the black and stainless combo work best for me. I haven't gotten into collecting knives yet...but...who knows what could happen!

Bobt, I think you can swap the clips...at the very least I'm sure Spyderco would accomodate replacing the blue with a steel one.

But if you liked the feel of the native "Native", you'd really appreciate the feel of the BF version. I just bought #2 myself after trying out the stock version at the stores. The BF version has more heft and is smoother (at least my #1 was).

Not that $99 is anything to sneeze at, and of course blue may not go with your wardrobe...

You can swap a stainless steel clip in for the blue clip on the BF Native.

I seem to remember Vince mentioning that he engineered the BF native to be smoother than the regular production versions. I don't recall the exact reason but in any case, the BF Native is well worth the money. It's the smoothest lockback I've ever handled and the sharpness and edge holding is outstanding.

RT,

I believe there are washers in the BF Native pivot that are not in the lightweight.

bobt, I know exactly how you feel about your native.I also have the lightweight, though I wish now that I had bought the BF,and can't afford one right now. My LW is very nearly my ideal pocket knife, and would be quite adequate protection if the chips were down.Of course, all Spydercos have their own charm, but I agree that the Native has to be one of the very best!
