I got this one yesterday.Rich Edwards(BF Name-richardj) in Ohio made it for me.This knife fits my hand very nicely. The palm swell is perfect.
At first I was a little hesitant about getting a chisel grind, but boy was I wrong! This is easily the sharpest knife I have ever held in my life!!:D:thumbup:I was slicing up some potatoes with it yesterday as well as a large pork loin roast.Well, they may as well have been butter, cause that's what everything I cut with this knife was like.I took a single piece of newspaper & started shaving off little strips of it,with no bending or crumpling of the paper what so ever.
Here's some pics of the knife, out of the box.I'll follow up later on this thread, when it develops a nice patina.
I apologize for the so-so pics.I'm still learning.:o

Here are the specs-

Cutting Edge-4"
Blade Width at widest point is 1 & 15/16"
Steel-1075
Handles-Birdseye Maple
Brass Pins

Yea I know my hands look terrible.I bite my nails. It's a nasty habit.I usually never take pics of my hands, but I wanted to show you guys(& gals) how good it fits my hand.

Rich also does sharpening.Free sharpening for life on one of his blades & very reasonably priced sharpening for anything else(scissors,knives...anything with an edge). He does an astounding job.I sent him a SOG Vulcan(VG-10) & a Kershaw Shallot(CPM-S110V).Two recurves.I have a problem sharpening recurves.I've been practicing, but I'm still not too good at it.Anyway,he said the SOG took him all of 30sec. to sharpen up real nice. The 110V Shallot took a little longer. He said "That's some hard steel!"

Thanks for looking:)

Take Care,
John

That's a good looking little knife and seems like a handy design. May it serve you long and well.

That is a nice looking knife. I am sure that it will serve you well, for a long time.

Man that looks handy dandy! Looks like it would be a dream in the kitchen at home or for camp cooking.

Glad you like the knife and that you're using it. I think there is real talent here on BF, I know I carry a knife from Down East and it's worked out really well.

That looks like a handy little knife. Beautiful wood.

Kind regards,

Jos

That's a great looking knife and really nice birdseye maple.

I was also thinking it looks like it would be an excellent shape for kitchen tasks.

That looks great!

Richard is trying to convert me to chisel grinds too; that knife definitely piques my interest.

Handle looks fantastic, and I like the drop blade design. Congratulations and thanks for sharing.

i like that handle i think that will be mt first handle ive made alot of stuff from maple and birds eye is my favorite i made my cupboards in my kitchen out of maple and some nice shadow boxes along with a coffee table out of maple so i think it should be easier to to knowing the way the wood works. thanks im sold now maybee i can inlay something in it any suggestions . thanks and wow thats a buttie of a knife .kellyw

thanks for the compliments guys. rotte, my knives arent your typical chisel grind. i'm sure once you get one in your hands you'll see the difference :D.

jon, you were too close in the first 3 pictures. macro mode has its limits for how close you can get. i had emailed resinguy the only pictures i had of your knife but i didnt have exactly what he wanted.

Top it off, Richard is a great guy on the maker forums, helping out new guys. He's a lot more patient than some of us (mea culpa) :( I tend to be grouchy at times but I'm working on it.

Good looking knife Richard, sounds like your customer got a winner!

Beautiful knife. The blade shape is definately unique. I really like it. Thanks for sharing the photos. :)
