I wonder when Buck will figure out that a sizeable portion of the knife buying public is left handed or likes the option of placing the knife on the opposite side of the belt from the right sided side pistol.

Probably never. It's been all downhill from the 110's ambidextrous belt pouch.
 
Nice pics 007!!! I LOVE my Gen 5 and have another on order also! She's a keeper.

I am a south paw,i carry it on my left side and absolutely love this knife,sheath is mint,wouldn't change a thing.I bought 3 of these and now i can't wait to get a bg-42 sambar stag model,all i need to do is get Joe to make it.lol
 
Congrats on the new knife Gary. It looks great!

Boats: I'm a lefty too and struggle with various sheath designs, not just Buck. At least the Gen5 sheath has the option for horizontal carry which allows for more flexibility.
 
I like that design, a leather sheath would be nice for a classic skinner design....and a lefty sheath at that!!! :D
 
What is the finger guard made from? It looks pretty shiney for Al - is it Ni-Ag or brass? I wonder if the edge is substantial enough to be reprofiled to a convex grind? Now, do I wait for the RW variant - which has brass and a leather sheath? I found the charcoal version 'in stock' for $50 + s/h ($5-$8) - probably a decent price. Ah, it's only money...

I also found the 005LE at $190 + s/h... tempting!

Well, I love the look of the 005LE... but, the harsh reality is I'd just pick that collectible knife up to open a candy bar - or box - or whittle with (maybe). So, I have a $55 (inc s/h) 005GY on it's way. I'll grab the RW variant when it comes out, too. That GY was about to run out on evil-bay, anyhow. With it's Kydex sheath, it should even make a decent 'woods-walker', aka 'Bushcraft-lite'.

That 005LE is still calling to me... I need help!

I'd like to just see mine... I just checked the tracking number 'knifestore' gave me with the USPS - no record found! Maybe it's just a clerical... I'll give them a day to get back to me.

I am so anxious for this thing - it's unreal. I have a line on a LE version, too - but I want this one as a user (Plus, I can afford it!).

Well, I must have tried USPS tracking during a reload or something - a bit later, it was there. Now it's 'here'! Great packing - my 'best' Buck box in some time (Never order a knife with bullets for reloading from Cabela's.).

I am impressed with this knife... a real razor, too. It feels great in the hand. A new 'woods-walking' knife? The sheath is for horizontal carry - interesting - may just be ideal for those hikes.! Of course, now the dilemma... wait for the 005RW or grab an 005LE for ~$200 shipped (... as if I had $200... the IRS is about to get everything in my account... and a kidney.).

This style is really nice - I just wonder about the checkering on the 005RW - and whether it, too, can be horizontal carry. Decisions...

I purchased one of these. In my opinion it's a very nice compact knife.

I think that only the nylon sheath has the horizontal carry capability (as opposed to the leather sheath that come with the higher price models), but I could be wrong.
