Got a new knife, but the tip isn't completely pointy

Hi,

New to getting proper knives. Opted to get a new Victorinox Cooks Knife 21.5cm (8.5" blade), and upon inspection after only using it twice, I've checked that the tip isn't extremely pointy or sharp. It cuts through things perfectly and I haven't noticed anything, but I was wondering if I should be worried, get it sharpened, replace, or just ignore it? Cheers.

Assuming you know how to sharpen your knife, that minor tip damage should sharpen out very easily. Unless you are using the very tip to do detail work, it probably won't be an issue either way. It's easy to ding the tip of a knife like that when washing it in the sink, or if you store it loose in a drawer without a blade protector.

Just the sand down the spine a bit. 80 grit - 150 grit - 220 grit - 400 grit.

That picture shows "blunt trauma", someone dinged it. The damage is so small that if it was my knife I would assume I did it by accident. You may not be as clumsy as I am, and the factory could have done it as well. I agree with jc57, just washing it could produce that much damage if it hits the sink end-on. I also agree it is minor.
