Got a "New" Tenacious Today

Hey all,

I placed an order at a reputable knife dealer for a Tenacious last week. It finally arrived today and I must say I was kind of disappointed when I opened it. The knife was covered in fingerprints and dirt/dust, the G10 is already worn in, and the edge was butter knife dull. Upon a closer inspection, I also noticed that the edge grinding was off by quite a bit. The box is marked "IM" Which I'm pretty sure is September 2013. I tried to take a picture, but my iPhone's camera is really behind the times.

I'm not really angry that the knife came in used condition, because at the end of the day it is going to be used daily. I'm just disappointed I didn't get the "new knife" day where the blade is clean and smooth, the G10 is nice and coarse, the edge is shaving sharp, etc...

Is this a lapse in Spyderco's quality control or did I get a lemon. I paid full price for this, it was not a discounted item and was advertised as new. I've owned 3 other Tenacious' which have since found their way to other people's hands. I was really excited to add one to my collection again. Thoughts? Sorry for the picture.

This sounds like a dealer problem.... not a Spyderco problem.

Return it, or exchange for a different one.

Sounds like you got a returned item that 'somehow' sold as new. Take it up with the dealer immediately and see if they are truly reputable.

I contacted the dealer and they have agreed to pay shipping both ways and replace the knife. It's on its way back to their warehouse. Thanks guys.
