Spyderco Tenacious G-10 Handle Folding Plain Edge Knife....is it a good carry knife? Is it worth the money? Will it hold up?

Yes, yes and yes. ;) The Tenacious is part of Spyderco's budget line, which means it is only as good as some other brand's top line. The fit and finish are generally quite good, especially at the price point. The steel is decent, takes a great edge and holds it well. Probably the best $70 knife you can get for $30.

From almost all accounts, the Tenacious is a great knife. Solid build, decent steel, very affordable. I won't rehash old news... :)

But...

I looked at a Tenacious side-by-side with a Persistence, and chose the little brother instead. The Persistence is only a shade smaller, almost identical in weight, and both have an extremely stiff pocket-clip that will chew up you pockets.

The biggest difference is not always the most obvious. Note the position of the pivot on each knife, and you will see that it is placed much lower down the scales on the Persistence. This gives you a longer portion of unsharpened tang that will save your thumb from being chopped off if you close the blade too soon after disengaging the liner-lock.

Both knives are an awesome deal for the money. You don't lose much if you decide I'm wrong :)

I've heard of the knives coming open in peoples pockets? is this a problem because I have adhd and I move around. a lot.

I don't know how you'd get one of these to open in your pocket by accident. I guess anything is possible but I wouldn't worry about it.

Alright I figured it might have been a fluke, first run problems etc but If all is safe I'm gonna get one or two :D
I just figured I'd ask because I know even a cheaper spyderco knife could tear up my mitts

I tightened up my pivot when i got it. It was a little too loose for my liking. When I tightened it, I used a dab of loctite and haven't had any problems.

MORE than worth the money...c'mon, G-10, flat ground 3.5 inch blade etc..For $35ish, you will not be disappointed.

It was my first Spyderco, and I carried it for a few months exclusively. It is a great knife to carry for EDC, and an awesome slicer.

As for how it holds up--I've had mine almost a year, it is my "beater" knife which I don't baby at all. Have never oiled it, cleaned it or serviced it. And aside from some scratches in the blade (which have zero effect on usefulness), it is as it was the day I bought it.

PS-as for staying close in the pocket, I believe there was an issue with early productions where the detent that held it closed was too weak. However, that hasn't been an issue for years. Mine has a very strong detent and is impossible to open without meaning to
